Let's throw Methotrexate into the mix!

Hi guys Well I have had 5 MTX injections now and the main side effects are feeling ropey the day after (tired, headaches, diarrhoea/loose) but this does seem to be diminishing. Bloods are all OK so far, but I can't say that I've noticed any benefit to my Crohns yet, but it is early days. I...

Mucus might prove useful in treating IBD

I saw report on this today on BBC News. Here is a link http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-24273607. Let's hope!

Getting frustrated, looks like we're losing all ground we gained...

Hi Carol Just sending you all my very best wishes and I hope Jaedyn starts to feel a bit better soon. Living in such a small country as the UK, we forget the distances that you guys have to travel sometimes. I'm glad you are all home now safely. Take care and lots of hugs and kisses. 😘

Let's throw Methotrexate into the mix!

Hi Astra I saw your other Metho post giving a tip about how to take it & like you said I am really nervous about the nausea & vomiting. My GI has given me anti-nausea tablets and hopefully I won't need them. Oh we'll, I am off in 30 mins for the first jab. Take care and let's hope it works...

Let's throw Methotrexate into the mix!

Hi Astra I'm starting injections this Friday. My GI said that injections tend to not cause as much nausea as they bypass the guts (makes sense I suppose). Like you I was worried about how this med would affect my job, so that is why I chose Friday. Hope it works for you & you start to feel...

    Methotrexate & caffeine?

Kayleigh Isn't it ironic that you are using caffeine to 'wake you up' from the MTX? I was dreading having to give up my tea!

    Methotrexate & caffeine?

Hello I am starting Methotrexate injections this Friday and my doctor has told me to avoid alcohol and caffeine as they may worsen the side effects. I knew about the alcohol but caffeine aswell!! Has anyone here had worse side effects from caffeine whilst on MTX? Thanks.

At risk of sounding stupid...just looking for imput

Hi Carol I know it's a pain but I would get your pain checked out. I know that in the UK they prefer not to use the FP poo test to diagnose IBD but it might be helpful - it's certainly better than having a colonoscopy! Please get yourself checked out (whatever tests you need). As Niks said...

    Why now

I know it's frustrating when the docs don't tell us why. Is there anyway you can find out before you go on the 17th? :ghug:

    Why now

Hi Karajan As you mentioned salts I just did a quick google and found this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bile_acid_malabsorption. I am sure there will be loads on here about bile salts malabsorption. I know I checked it out after I had my resection. Take care hon and let us know how things...

    Why now

Oh Karajan I am not sure I can give you any useful advice as it seems that you have been through a lot already and probably know what to look out for. Maybe they have scheduled a CT to get a better picture of what inflammation you may have, if any? I am not sure how relevant CRP results are...

Starting Methotrexate & worried about vomiting

Hello Saw my GI today and we have agreed to start Metho injections - 10mg (first week), 15mg (second) & 20mg (third). Also 1 x 5mg folic acid 2/3 days afterwards. I recently had a FP test come back at 300ug/g where three months ago it was 31ug/g. As my bowel perforated unexpectedly last...

Stressed, feeling really low & crying a lot

Auntie Em I get all my various vitamins/minerals (as per David's advice) checked every 3 months and the last lot (2 weeks ago) all came back fine thankfully. It is the FP poo test that has me worried at the moment. Thanks for your suggestions and for caring - much appreciated. I am feeling a...

Stressed, feeling really low & crying a lot

Hi guys I haven't been on the forum for a while as I have really been struggling with stress the last few months - work related and also still trying to come to terms with this disease. I have really low mood and am crying all the time, for no reason whatsoever. I dropped a bag in the...

    Post Op Pain Relief Options?

I had an emergency resection last year due to a perforated bowel. I seem to remember that I had an injection in the base of my spine (I assume it was an epidural) before the operation and afterwards I had a pump for a few days. I was full of infection due to the bowel perf and also I had a huge...
