    Not Sure

Please forgive me for poking in, but I was hoping to help with a few ideas as to your concerns. I'm afraid there's not a whole lot that I can say that these wonderful parents have already said! But, I was diagnosed at 18 even though most likely I had IBD since I was born. The majority of my...

    Do I have Crohn's?

You may still have Crohn's/IBD although, it might not be active. Those of us with IBD do go months or years without any symptoms. However, there are others who don't get that pleasure. There was a time where I was able to go without any medications at all. But, one horrible flare that lasted...

    Hot Flashes

I don't know about hot flashes, but there have been times where I've woken up at night because of night sweats and have been totally soaked. I do know that mine is from IBD because it happens when my stomach is acting up.

Reducing Red Meat Consumption in Crohn's Patients Did Not Lengthen Remission Period

I've found that I just don't digest red meat at all and when I have it that it will run right through me. So, I make sure to stay far away from it. For me, it is for sure a no go and if it's recommended for me to have it, I'd have to reject!

    Does prednisone cause shaking?

Yes it can, I guess I don't remember it. Although, at the time my GI that I had while I was on it had me on too much medication as it was. Here's a website that shows the side effects and such to help. I would suggest that if the shaking gets to be too much that you would contact your clinic...

I have UC, want to give a kidney

I've asked before and been told that I can't give blood or bone marrow either. I'm not sure if it's because of the medications we've been on or what exactly. Although, the blood part wouldn't work anyway because I'm too small. But, I can tell you that you're not alone!

    Travelling with contacts

That's an idea. Another thought is, we won't know the change date of the ones we're wearing before hand. Depending on the date, we could always just take the old ones with us until the date to throw them...

    Travelling with contacts

Husband and I are looking to travel to England sometime this next year to visit family. We both wear monthly contact lenses and are wondering what you guys happen to use when going abroad. We're looking to be there about 2 weeks and will be limited on liquids. Do you switch to either dailies...

    Smoked salmon?

We love smoked salmon at my house! The best kind for us is stuff we smoke ourselves. It's always been easier on my stomach, especially during a flare.

    Dried and shredded coconut?

I do have coconut milk occasionally and it does well on me. But, when I drink it I have always had it mixed in something. For months though, we did purchase almond milk and I did drink that alone. I hope the coconut milk will work well on you too!

    Dried and shredded coconut?

I haven't had coconut in awhile. But, majority of the time I've had shredded and never had any problem. Most of what I've had has been sweetened though and put into desserts. So, I'm afraid that I haven't had much of the fresh kind.

    Marriage and Crohns

I agree with Jo-mom. If it helps any, even though I let my husband know about my UC he really didn't understand it until I was in a horrible flare 10 years after we'd been married and it lasted for 2 years.

    Marriage and Crohns

I'm in a marriage where before mine all marriages were arranged. In fact, my mother-in-law tried to arrange my husband with someone before he met me. I just talked with my husband as I read this and he says "they don't disclose anything else beforehand so why does this matter"? I did tell...

    Menopause

I called and got an appointment for the ultrasound. It's scheduled for: Aug 21st and will be to check me out. In the meantime, while I visited with my folks this last week my Mom told me that she'd had the same symptoms at my age. So, unfortunately all that I'm experiencing maybe inherited...

    Breast Calcifications

Went for the mammogram this year and all went well. They were thankful to see the marker that the last clinic had left in. Couldn't remember which **** had the marker and they were able to tell me after the exam. Supposedly, they want me to go in next year for another round since I'm over 40...

Health coverage in British Columbia, new immigrant

I'm afraid that I'm not sure, although I've found this website for you. https://www.aimseducation.edu/blog/us-vs-canadian-healthcare-differences Have you looked into getting set up with a new GI up there and/or general doctor? Another thing could be contacting Remicade to see if you could get...

    Travel Insurance

Just a little update: We went to our insurance agent to see if they happen to insure for medical too. Although they were shocked and horrified, they didn't so we ended up going on to somewhere else. That's where we ended up at AAA (american automobile association) which mostly helps with...

    What is your Maintenance dose?

I switched to Mesalamine tablets from Pentasa tablets and the dose ended up being half the amount I originally took (and have done well with it). Not sure the difference between the Mesalamine Rectal and the Canasa. But, am looking to switch to the generic too once I finish up the brand name.
