    Has this happened to you??

I personally try not to take anything like Immodium because the same thing happens to me. If I take a small dose the diarrhoea doesn't stop. If I take enough to stop the diarrhoea then that's it, I won't poop for days. And once I do poop, I have a 'backlog' to clear, leading to... Diarrhoea...

    Fecal incontinence

Was it a full blown accident or just an oversized skid? And was it mucousy or liquid at all? If your stool is liquid or mucous then some can seep out as the sphincter isn't great at holding back liquids, just solids. But if it was a full blown accident then I would mention it to your doctor-...

    MoviPrep for colonoscopy

Have you eaten at all? As soon as my colonoscopy was over I ate normally, with plenty of bran cereal added in for good measure. The bran helps to soak up water from the stool and bulk it out, and helps you get back to normal quicker.

What's the chance of getting MS from Humira/Remicade?

What is the difference between humira, Remicade and Tysabri? I'm afraid I don't understand much about the biologicals! But Tysabri is used as a treatment for MS. As regards to the increased risk- was this compared to Crohn's patients in active flares/ being treated with other medications/ or...

Would you consider this a lie?

To be honest, I wouldn't be comfortable lying to work- I am 'too honest' and struggle to tell even small lies. I would be too scared that either this is the time they ask for documentation, or I would suffer complications as a result of the procedure and get 'found out' that way. I personally...

Would you consider this a lie?

Just a quick thought- Does it have to be you that undergoes the procedure? Can't hubby have his tubes tied? I'm sure it's a quicker and easier op for men than women, plus there is less risk of the op making you flare, or complications like adhesions occurring.

You may want to avoid those french fries and potato chips

What if I make my own chips (fries) and peel the potatoes twice, thus removing at least the top 1.5 mm. Should that be OK? Mashed and jacket (baked) potatoes are among my safest foods :)

    For the ladies

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I have never had one, but my mum did, and I know she had to go in for a D and C to make sure that there was nothing still inside her. She also went on to have a healthy pregnancy not too long after. Hopefully you will too.

Do us crohnies have issues with paracetamol/Tylenol ?

Have you tried different brands, in case it's a problem with one of the other ingredients (lactose is often used as a filler, sometimes colours are added). You could also try a soluble version in case the actual pill is irritating your insides.

    No Apparent Reason

What about stress? I used to find that stress had a pretty instant reaction in my guts- for example telling a child off at work could cause stomach cramps. Or it could be a bit more subtle, like if I didn't sleep well one night I would feel worse for a day or two. Also other health matters like...

Can someone please help me - How to fill medication on low income

Have you tried this? Googling 'Asacol assistance program' brings up a few promising links.

Sigh- I made it 3 years in remission but it's back.

You need treatment sooner rather than later. If you become malnourished your milk will dry up or lose its nutritional value anyway, won't it? If it helps, I am currently 20 weeks pregnant, planning on breastfeeding, and have been assured that azathioprine is safe to continue while...

    Amenorrhea

Malnutrition and weight loss can both stop your periods. Has your Crohn's been active recently?

An introduction and some advice on tests

No such thing as TMI on here! It might be worth you 'starting again' with your GP and going with a different symptom at the front of your mind. For example the bone pain or fingernail clubbing. See what tests they order for those, and they might refer you to a different specialist who will...

    Update - Just me thinking.

With your response to pred, Addison's disease came to mind. I am not sure if it could cause all your symptoms though.

I'm new to the forum & am diagnosed with Crohn's. Just want to give some hope!

Wow! Thanks for sharing your story. But I'll pass on the scope pics! As for the pred- doesn't it come in a soluble version where you are? And have you tried enteral nutrition as that can be just as effective at getting you into remission.

    I've got a rash...

Azathioprine can cause sun sensitivity. But apparantly it's going to cool off tomorrow (typical, I'm off to Skeggy next week!) so you'll see if it's that of not.

Anyone else not "fit-in" at their GI office? (Age Wise)

PsychoJane- our hospital has several ultrasound departments. One is antenatal and 2 are diagnostic (one clinic and one in emergency). Though I did say to my boyfriend how wierd it was to be lying on the bed while they scanned my stomach- which was kind of large by then! I was half expecting...

Anyone else not "fit-in" at their GI office? (Age Wise)

There are a few my age or only a little older (like 30s) at my GI docs. But the neurologist waiting room is full of old people!

Lifeway Kefir and Ulcerative Colitis - An Expose

You do know that 'colitis' is different from 'ulcerative colitis'? You give a couple of examples of Kefir treating colitis caused by bacteria. Presumably by the action of inhibiting organisms such as salmonella and e. coli. However, UC is different, in that it is the body attacking its own tissues.
