Pimple break out - side effect of which med?

Son's breakout appears to have been from a new acne medicine I bought for him. As soon as he quit using it, his pimples went away. Sheesh.

    Moody Teen

My soon to be 17 year old son has become angrier about things in the past few months. He's angry about the way his older siblings have treated him and ARE treating him (ignoring him, basically) and angry about having a disease. :( He wanted to see a therapist, but now is wavering. "It's not...

    Help Please Anyone

I'm so very sorry for you and your daughter. When my son was first diagnosed this past March, I was so sad and afraid, it was overwhelming!!! :( But, things got better for my son. He's not suffering anymore. Soon your daughter will be through the worst of it and on the mend, too!

Pet peeves about people's thoughts on IBD

Most people are pretty self-absorbed. I was a perfectly healthy teenager. 5' 7" and 120 lbs, but I wanted to weigh 115 and I kind of obsessed about those 5 lbs. I hated it when people said I was skinny because I did not believe them. I remember considering burning off my tastebuds, so food...

Big medical bills? (Patient Assistance Programs)

I just saw a little news clip about this. Evidently, if you recieve care at a non-profit hospital, you can be reimbursed for part of the cost of your treatment. One lady owed over $25,000 and it was reduced to $7,000 in a few weeks. They said you can do this even if you have insurance. Be...

Son normally has perfectly clear skin and I noticed he has tiny white bumps on his cheeks. They just appeared a few days ago.

I'm Proud Of My Child Because......

Having the carpets cleaned at this moment and when I came home from running errands yesterday, my sweet son had moved all the furniture out of the family room and picked up everything little throughout the entire house.

    Anything that makes Crohn's easier!

GPS - Gets us to appointments AND back home. Each week I make a big pot of soup and freeze it in individual, microwavable servings, so my son can have hot soup whenever he likes. I also keep bags of organic, frozen fruit in the freezer, so he can always make a smoothie. I buy most of it already...

    Low Fiber/Residue Diet Support Group

My son is in a similar position as you and he eats most things in smoothie form. Steamed super greens or spinache, fruit smoothies with blended nuts, pureed soups, like lentil, broccoli, tomato, mushroom...everything is blended. He eats no corn, rice or spicy food.

    Bearly There: An Update

My son is 5' 8" and when he was in the hospital, he got down to 79 lbs. He now weighs 101. He feels tired all the time and can't seem to put on more weight. We're going to add some Peptamen back into his diet, even though it's not SCD legal.

    Incredible E

My son may be one of the few people on earth who NEED to eat meat. :( If that's the case, I hope he will. I've cooked him some, but he pretty much just picks at it. He lives on organic fruit smoothies, green smoothies, pureed vegetable soups, scd cheese bread, cheese and yogurt. He ate an...

    Flaring after colonoscopy?

I don't have Crohn's, but before a colonoscopy, I give myself a thorough enema and they always tell me I was well cleaned out. The prep drinks make me sick.

    General tips?

Son is living on organic yogurt, puréed soups and smoothies and doing pretty well. Over the day, he drinks an entire lb of spinach or other greens and a cup of lentils (for iron). And has a couple of huge fruit smoothies. He liked the one he had last night quite a bit: 1 C frozen mango, 1...

Feeling overwhelmed with chronie & celiac at home

Without an illness even, I can attest to the fact that revamping one's diet is challenging. Our family was pretty much meat and potatoes, then we went veg, then I went vegan, then 1 of my kids went vegan, then husband began including fish again, then oldest became an omni again when she got...
