Effects of coffee on your IBD

I've actually drank more coffee than before being diagnosed bc I've almost totally cut out soda. I loved an early morning diet coke! I'm on the constipated side of bowel issues so a cup of coffee gets things going.

Question on Remicade and marijuana use

I wasn't aware that Remicade stressed the liver. I'm on Humira and haven't avoided alcohol. I hope you get some good info!

How bad were your symptoms before Humira?

I've only been diagnosed since feb. Started Humira in May, saw immediate improvement to a point where it leveled off, went to 80mg twice/month and believe I'm on the cusp of remission!

    SCD/Paleo/GAPS Support Group

My simplistic reaction to your situation is that he had heavy antibiotics before starting SCD the first time. Maybe his gut was primed for it the first time around?

    SCD/Paleo/GAPS Support Group

What else are you doing to battle this first flare? I'm not sure right now is the best time to experiment with diet. Rather, I'd say it's the time to find safe foods and stick to them. At the very least, evaluate your diet for fiber. Fiber is the hardest thing for our guts to digest, not carbs...

    Just bought my first juicer

My main juice ingredients are carrots, apples and greens. Then I try to add stuff and balance out non-sweet with extra fruit. I put my juice in a blender bottle with yogurt kefir (and sometimes advocare spark).

    SCD/Paleo/GAPS Support Group

Also, I have the Against All Grain cookbook and am quite turned off by the use of other flours & substitute ingredients. Does anyone have thoughts on those or experience with them? I'm ready to move away from white carbs and make some pretty food.

I'm finally getting into a groove of going to classes. I'm loving it. I've missed feeling strong.

    Hoping to avoid surgery

Your case sounds a little like mine. I'm so glad I haven't had typical Crohn's symptoms but sometimes I'd like a clue as to what's going on in there before I'm hit with unbearable pain or other problems. I try to be proactive with juicing, bone broth and stayed hydrated. If I drink, I over...

    Essential Oils

I don't ingest them and don't plan to start. My favorite use is for joint pain. And I'm just using the di-Gize my friend sent mixed with olive oil. What bothers me is that there's no science on these things anywhere. The girl that sells them was really trying to get me to ingest them. I hate...

    Humira Club Support Group

I had a partial obstruction and flare last week & my GI upped me to 80mg every two weeks. I'm pretty bummed about having to double my dose. It took a good while for me to accept having to take it in the first place. I really hope she lets me try 40mg again in 6 mos or a year.

The joy of your bodies urge to ruin your pants.

Ooh so sorry! I'm isually constipated but am being hit with a flare from hell so I soiled two pairs today. One super bad at home and one a little...at Costco. Ya know you're in deep when you're like "yeah. I sharted. Gotta finish shopping."

    Low Fiber/Residue Diet Support Group

Red Lobster would be easy, especially if you can eat greasy food. Hush puppies, biscuits, shrimp, lobster. Yum!!

    Humira Club Support Group

I think it's safe to say Humira has kicked in for me. Today is injection day and I haven't even done it. Quite the contrast from counting down the hours like I have the last few months!

    Overweight with Crohn's Support Group

What a great idea! I'm visiting friends in a few weeks and always feel better about myself if I've made something of an effort before seeing people I haven't in a while. I'm using Bosley stuff on my hair where it got very thin when I was sick. I used the elliptical today which I love but am...

    Severe Leaky Gut without IBD?

You're getting good, solid advice. Just a few things I'd throw in there. First, not all people with IBD present with diarrhea and weight loss. Second, are you carefully choosing the meat you're eating. A lot of deli meat has carrageen in it; unless it's cut fresh & otherwise high quality...
