    Epiduo gel for acne

Yes, my son uses the Epiduo Gel and it's worked very well for him. He even had cystic acne and we were able to avoid abx by using the Epiduo. Occasionally his skin does get too dry from the gel, but then he just uses a moisturizing lotion for a couple days and it evens out.

    Stricture - duodenum

Oh, Maya, sorry to hear this. DS had a structure in his jejunum. It took a really good radiologist (who'd been watching the structure for two years), his GI and a surgeon to all sit together and review his MRE's to decide that it was due to scar tissue. I believe it is very difficult to...

We have a diagnosis! (And I'm not crazy!)

What about other intolerances? Fructose, or some other less common one? Have you done a food diary in awhile?

2nd infliximab infusion low ferritin and vit D levels severe fatigue

Did they say what to do about the low ferritin? Is he on iron supplements or did they say anything about anemia? Poor thing. As for the fatigue, how old is he? Could it be a combo of IBD and growth spurts?

    Plantar Wart, HPV, Remicade?

Yes, this is a concern. The one he has has been around for a year. It's never bothered him really until he got a new pair of athletic shoes and now something is rubbing it. I do see another very small one forming the same foot.

    Undiagnosed Club Support Group

I don't know if it will help, but in my profile, under photos, I had a pic of my son's x-ray from when he was very, very hospitalized consitpated.

With happy tears.....Surgery has made a difference!

That's so wonderful! Same story with my son. He got his life back after his resection. It. Was. Amazing!

Parents of Pre-Teens and Teens with IBD

Sorry I haven't been around. DS is doing well, so I've only been lurking and not posting much. We have been busy visiting colleges and I must admit, I'm VERY nervous. Not only on the logistics of living in a dorm with limited bathrooms, eating gluten free safely, and figuring out a Remicade...

What other parents do when you see the signs of a flare coming on?

How old is she? Could it be anxiety related with school starting? My son has gotten better over the years, but the start of school always ups his anxiety which translates to stomach aches, nausea, fatigue, etc... similar to flare symptoms. I hope she feels better soon!

    Plantar Wart, HPV, Remicade?

DS has a plantar wart on his foot. We treated with OTC salicylic acid and now it's... really gross (and I wouldn't suggest Googling pics... yuck!!). I've read Mayo and WebMD and saw all the possible treatments, but am wondering if anyone here has experience in light of of him being on Remicade...

    Suture anchors/clamps/pins and MREs

Taking Canadian schools off DS' college lists... ;)

    Well Imuran it is!

Great advice so far. The only thing I would add is if you're flying, wipe down as much as you can before she gets in her seat. Airplanes are so yucky!

    Supposed to start Remicade

My son has been on Remicade for almost four years and been in a nice solid remission since he started. He's had no side effects to speak of really. Heck, it's the Benadryl pre-med that affects him the most and makes him tired. Like MLP said, it's the potential benefits that you should give more...

    Growth after small bowel resection

My son had a small bowel resection when he was 12 years old. He was like you and about the size of kids two grades younger than him. He had surgery in January and by April was a good 15 pounds heavier and at least one inch if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, he wasn't on the right meds and...

    Coeliac disease with Crohn's.

Yes, my son was dx'd with both Celiac and Crohn's. I don't think there is much you can do until you get the Celiac results back. They may do an upper endoscopy to check the villi in the small intestine. If they are blunted, that's the gold standard for diagnosing Celiac. You may want to do a...

    Gum issues related to IBD?

Well, y'all have convinced ME he needs to brush and floss more. Now how do I convince him?? At 16, I'm trying to not hover... but...

Wish I had something to cheer about.....😢

My son is on a six week Remicade cycle and we just added mtx a couple of months ago. He is horrible with needles so he's doing the oral dose once a week before bed on Friday nights. He hasn't had any side effects (tho I'm not sure the gingivitis is due to mtx or not). Don't forget that you'll...

    Gum issues related to IBD?

That's awesome! I think I'd need to dangle a carrot in front of my boys for them to take on a challenge like that, but probably well worth it in the long run.

    B12 shots

Since he was just dx'd, I'd give the meds some time to work, especially if he's just starting a maintenance med (something more than pred). How old is your son? If a teen, he could also be experiencing the fatigue that comes with growth during those years.
