    Fecal calproctectin yo-yo-ing

Yes I will be retested in October and seeing my consultant in November. Strange as I had a colonoscopy 3 months before the 211 result and that looked pretty good and a marked improvement from my colonoscopy in December 2015 when my fecal calproctectin result was 65!

    Fecal calproctectin yo-yo-ing

Hello, anyone know why a fecal calproctectin test result might yo-yo? Over the past year my results have been: Aug 2015: 65 March 2016: 70 June 2016: 60 September 2016: 142 December 2016: 72 March 2017: 32 July 2017: 211 My MRI with contrast in September 2016 was normal, my colonoscopy in...

I believe Accutane was the beginning of my Crohn's Disease

There is IBD in my family - my dad has colitis and I have Crohn's. This puts my brother at greater risk for IBD. He had a few years on acutane in his teenage years but so far has not developed any gut related problems. He's 26 now. Hopefully he will continue to not have problems. I would be...

I need help from old crohn's patients

Let me point you to this post: http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?p=904436#post904436 This helped me when I had worries like you do. Crohns isn't a progressive illness in the sense like multiple sclerosis or COPD can be. It's usually something people live with rather than die from. My...

I need a help from an expert please

I am not sure why you had to have a routine colonoscopy and endoscopy at 42? Seems very young to have such invasive tests for no reason other than "routine". If the ulcers are just superficial they may not show up on an MRI, blood work may also be normal. It's possible as well the calproctectin...

Only one or two crohn symptoms and confused

    1. This disease is very individual. You can look at a list of symptoms for Crohn's and will find people who can probably tick nearly all of the symptoms. Conversely you can find people with maybe one symptom or even NO symptoms, who are only aware their disease is active through routine testing...

Does this sound like Crohns? Possible Anxiety

Crohns is a tricky disease, some people go undiagnosed for decades as no two cases are the same. You can look at lists of symptoms and find some Crohn's patients may have only one of those symptoms. Some Crohn's patients have NO symptoms at all and only know they have active disease through...

New here... just had colonoscopy and dr thinks I have crohns

I agree with everything scipio said and would also like to add that negative biopsies for Crohn's don't hold much weight. Lots of us on here have negative biopsies. Heck even a section of my bowel surgically removed due to Crohn's destroying it, to the extent I perforated, was tested as...

    Ladies: Cervical changes

My smear in March 2017 came back normal as well despite being on aza a year. I get my next one after 12 months. I will just go as regular as they allow.

    Crohn's disease and Terminal Ileitis

Honestly, I think in terms of probability it is MUCH more probable that this 'terminal ileitis' is in fact Crohn's disease and not a separate thing to your small bowel Crohn's. The most common place for Crohn's to manifest itself is in the terminal ileum. I find it very odd that your doctor...

    Crohn's disease and Terminal Ileitis

It sounds like your doctor is not diagnosing you with Crohn's but has diagnosed you with general inflammation of the terminal ileum, which he is not giving a cause for. I suspect he is putting you on steroids for 6 months hoping it will disappear and you will have no further problems. If it is...

Can I have Crohn's / IBD even if all blood and stool tests are negative?

For me: Normal stool tests Normal blood work Normal CT scan with contrast Normal MRI scan with contrast Colonoscopy and upper endoscopy both found inflammation and ulcers in small bowl. Diagnosis - Crohn's and coeliac disease.

    Who else has Psoriasis?

For anyone with psoarisis on their face I would recommend nettle moisturiser. Not sure if I am allowed to link to where I buy it? But it cleared it up completely for me and no longer need to use steroid creams. If I don't use it for a while it will start to come back. I tried the nettle shampoo...

Update: Mri results, pain, and surgery.

If there is scar tissue you could need surgery. If it is just inflammation causing a bowel narrowing and thickening you would not need surgery - your disease is located in one of the most common areas for Crohn's and it is well treated with a variety of choices of medications.

    Stelara

I do not believe stelara would increase your risk of cancer any more than imuran/remicade/humira. In fact I have heard stelara may actually be less risky than the others. Sorry to hear of your difficulties. A PPI drug may help your upper inflammation as well if you were allowed one but not sure...

    How did your Crohn's begin?

From everything I have read on this forum, everyone's journies are all pretty different. For myself, I just woke up out the blue one night with horrific cramps, like waves of pain in the centre of my abdomen. They went away the next day but returned regularly until I was eventually diagnosed...

    New to Crohn's at 49

Unfortunately with Crohn's, symptoms are not a good indication of disease severity. It's great that you feel you are doing well but make sure you get regular testing to check the symptoms are aligned with what is going on inside. I see you are getting a colonoscopy soon which is very sensible...
