    Resection Tomorrow Morning!

Good luck! Don't forget to do lots of walking around the wards. I started working from home around week 2/3 and part time in the office from week 3. Fully back by week 4/5 ish. I was fairly fit before the op, that certainly helped shorten the recovery time and work was very accommodating so I...

    Change in Humira Dosage

I'm on weekly Humira, it's not uncommon. I changed to syringes rather than the pen and I find them much less unpleasant so seeing as you've already got them I'd give it a try. There is helpful information on how to do this on the Humira site. It was probably easier for me to change to syringes...

Why isn't Fatigue Listed as a Side Effect for Humira?

Interesting! I don't have any side effects from Humira and I'm now on weekly as it wasn't helping the Crohn's either. I am tired but no more than usual, if anything I'm less tired in he last few weeks which coincides with having less D. I'm really hopeful things will stay this way when I go...

When it comes to drinking.... Advice please?

I don't notice any difference although I can't drink ciders as it gives me acid reflux but other than that I can drink anything I like without any issues. I did have problems with red drinks such as red wine and port initially (20 years ago!) but that seems to have gone away as well. I certainly...

Have you attended an IBD support group?

I used to go years ago and found it really helpful. It made me feel less "alone" with the disease and it was really useful to hear about different meds and dr's etc. This was pre internet so it was much more difficult to get up to date info on anything. Unlike Gracem's experience my group was...

What do you use for gas?

I also use Buscopan (called Gastro Soothe here) and peppermint tea and/or chews if it's not so bad. Sometimes lying on your back and pulling your right knee towards your chin also helps move things along.

    Low residue recipes!

I make a variation on this by adding in grated courgette and an egg and then frying them, yum! I do leave out the thyme but I may give that a go next time. When I'm doing well I also add some cubed hard goats cheese, that makes it a meal in itself, delish.

AIEC Vaccine + MAP Vaccine + Funding = Cure Crohn's and Colitis ?

Interesting article in our local rag; http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/80201367/Christchurch-microbiologist-may-have-cracked-Crohns-disease Interestingly he says he doesn't need more money, I guess he just needs results!

    Humira vs Remicade?

And I find less pain using a syringe rather than the pen. It might pay to try both the pen and the syringe to see what you prefer. I also don't get it delivered, I just go to the pharmacy when it suits me and pick it up. I don't even think delivery is an option here in NZ. I get 2 at a time so...

Humira, Stress and Not Liking My Dr. Vent

Hugs. I think a lot of us find that we need more than one dr as the GI's seem to limit themselves mostly to GI stuff and very little else. I use my GP (do you call that a PCP?) for everything else like vitamins and not sleeping etc. She put me on Amitriptyline to improve sleep, I'm only on 10mg...

    Breakfast you all generally eat?

I have 2 slices of homemade sourdough bread usually with ham or something else savoury as I don't like sweet things first thing in the morning. I sometimes have peanut butter as that helps to slow things down. I start the day with a heaped teaspoon of psyllium mixed with some water and have...

    Colonoscopy with Fistula--M scared

The nitro works by stopping the sphincter muscle from spasming too much which is what causes the fissure. I've had them for years on and off and they never infect so try not to worry about that. I also have low blood pressure and the first time I used the nitro I really noticed it, a drop in bp...

    Strictures and Adalimumab

I was put on Humira to stop the strictures from happening! My current ones are due to inflammation and they have improved since being on Humira. (The previous ones were removed as they were due to scarring) Why do you think Humira will increase structuring?

How long do the MRI's take?

Test answer? About 20 minutes. I don't think you can be put under as you have to breathe in and out at certain times and listen to instrucions. It's not scary at all, your head doesn't go in the machine, you lie on your belly and don't even see the machine so it doesn't feel confined at all.

    Gluten

Not all cd patients react to gluten, many don't so count yourself lucky. I wouldn't know what to eat if I couldn't have gluten!

    Hemorrhoids???

I understand your fear! It took me a while to dare try again but now I've found what works for me I'm happy I did. Maybe you could try half a teaspoon and see how that goes?

    Hemorrhoids???

How much do you use??? Have you tried using just a teaspoon full? I don't dare to go any higher than a small tablespoon but built that up, starting with a small teaspoon mixed in water first thing in the morning. All that does is thicken things up a little bit so I can get to work without an...
