    Severe abdominal pain

Lara I feel for you being in so much pain. You are especially unlucky that your surgeon went away and is not aware. It's totally appropiate you've been going to emergency given the circumstances, but sitting down with your surgeon, GI or both gives you all the time and space that you probably...

How did you know it was time for surgery?

Great to hear that you have a plan of action now and best of all that you had a positive experience of being heard. Hopefully you will regain some confidence in your specialists. Keep us posted with how you get on.

    My current situation

I agree, its worth chatting to them about their thinking behind retrying you, when you are struggling at the low dose. I had always thought that individuals showing signs of bone marrow supression from a particular drug not only stop taking the drug but don't start again. Its not great for your...

Possible EIM - internal blood loss

Like Dusty I know some people have both, but to the best of my knowledge, research directly linking them isn't well developed. Have scans shown the proximate location of the bleeds? Endometriosis lesions bleed but not usually to the point of tranfusions. Lesions have been found in every organ in...

    My current situation

I'm sorry you are in such a lot of pain. If you want to widen your treatment options then a pain clinic could be helpful. I seem to remember from previous conversations that your gp tends to manage your fibro, however as she has already stated she has reached the limit of what she can come up...

    Help needed please

I agree it can be difficult to be investigated for other dxs when you have one that might account for some of symptoms. It sounds like whatever is going on its complex / more than one thing. I think the black stool is concerning, have you reported that to any of your doctors? I would organise...

    Help needed please

Did the dizziness coincide with the iron deficiency? It sounds like you may be losing blood through the black stool which won't help. Are you seeing any specialists at the moment who could organise some up to date investigations? Have you had an MRI since these symptoms developed? With...

    Severe Pain

Sorry you are in discomfort! It could well be the morphine you were given. Does it normally have this effect on you? Are you drinking lots? Soups can be good too. A gentle over the counter laxative may help if it's not contraindicated for you. If it goes on too long you could check with the...

    Post-surgery scans?

Same as the others, I have not had imaging just to check healing post surgery. I have annual MRI's, and others scans as and when required. I've only had imaging post op to investigate specific complications such as hematoma. External wound sites should be checked at your follow up. If you had...

Support for longtime girlfriend of Crohn's patient

First off I send you a hug. I am not envious of my loved one's position of feeling helpless while I'm in surgery /hospital / very unwell and at times having to do a lot previously shared stuff alone. You clearly care a great deal. I don't have any answers either, I have a few thoughts...you...

    Adhesions?

It's difficult because as you point out adhesions can have different actions on the bowel; constrictive or pulling etc. It sounds like your referring to scar tissue within the pelvis rather than within the bowel lumen? The former type can be attached to other organs in the vacinity too such as...

Partial obstruction at the rectum! - desperately needs help!!:(

I think it's a very individual thing depending on the health of the person and what's going on in their life. Personally I have had to make major adaptations, and there is a sometimes a sense of loss around that, but then again I know that I achieve a lot for me. If it isn't someone else's idea...

Partial obstruction at the rectum! - desperately needs help!!:(

It can be miserable when it effects you and your life so much, and its hard for those around you to understand unless they have been through similar. Have you got people around who support you and help with childcare etc? It's tough when your in the middle of it but there are options out there...

    Bag expiry dates?

Thanks. I'm going to hang onto them. It won't take too long to get through them. It seems a bit overzealous to chuck.

    Bag expiry dates?

Ahh no those ones are not, they are in plastic wrap but not sterile. They attach to the cath rather than skin. But saying that I looked at my caths which are sterile and my all in ones (bag and cath) and they all have expiry dates as well.

    Bag expiry dates?

This is slightly left field because I use catheter bags and I appreciate the various stoma bags are made from different materials, but I thought this would be a good place to ask... I was recently going through my supplies and I noticed that one type of bag that I use infrequently (surgery...

Partial obstruction at the rectum! - desperately needs help!!:(

Sorry this is having such an impact on your life. I agree with DJW. You might need to start looking at a resection. Meantime stick with low fibre diet to make it easier to pass. Try eating little and often or liquids if it's a really bad day, but don't do this for long periods without medical...

    Unknowingly burned myself

Sorry you went through that afidz. I hope that it heals without surgery. Please let us know how you got on at the ER. The whole front of my torso is also numb from repeated surgeries. Its been that way for years and I still find it eerie. It's also (I find) surprisingly upsetting -...
