    Flagyl

I didn't know that's where the tingling in the fingers and toes came from. Neither did my GI actually when I mentioned it to him. Hope things are going better for you.

Before & After - Not for the Faint Hearted (You have been warned)

Actually, I'm Greek-Cypriot, Misty...but thanks for the compliment. Archie, hope you can stay off the meds forever.

Before & After - Not for the Faint Hearted (You have been warned)

Archie, I see that you are not on any meds. Why is that if I may ask? Nyx, glad to hear you are much healthier. Keep it up.

Before & After - Not for the Faint Hearted (You have been warned)

The 'healthy" pic is me at the beginning of 2010. The other pic is September 2010 about a month after surgery. I guess i'm in remission in as much as I am not in pain anymore since the surgery but I do still have several other symptoms. This is me a couple of months ago. Still a bit haggard...

Amazed (and horrified) with all the various CD symptoms

LOL.... Thanks for that Rossy. And another one.....kidney stones......

    Flagyl

It's the worst of all the anti-b's. That metallic taste just doesn't go. GI told me not to take it with juice or anything citrus-y as it makes the taste worse. I took it with plain water and it was just as nasty. I was taking it along with cipro recently for an abcess on my butt. GI said he...

Amazed (and horrified) with all the various CD symptoms

I forgot to mention spasms and restless leg syndrome

Amazed (and horrified) with all the various CD symptoms

I was thinking this morning, having woken up with a sore throat, that since CD is an auto-immune disorder exactly how many symptoms are CD related. I decided to make a list of the ones that I have had or currently have apart from the obvious direct CD related symptoms (diarrhoea, pain...

    Are surgery scars permanent?

My scar - just above the naval going down to the pubic area - has practically faded and it's been just over a year since surgery. However, I do have two smaller scars where the drainage "system" was placed at the LLQ. I guess being a guy and having a hairy tum also helps to conceal.

    Can a chronic fissure heal

I'm confused. My GI tells me I have a fissure that requires surgery (anal stretch) as it is not healing. But everything I read regarding fissures mentions pain and constipation. I have neither. I bleed sometimes after a BM but its not due to constipation. On the contrary, my BM's are always...

Just had my first round of Remicade, how long does it take to work?

I was on Remicade for 8 months before developing an immunity to it (now on Humira). I can honestly say though that it was just a few days in that I started to feel better starting with an increased appetite for food. Hang in there. It's worth the wait. My best to you.

Should i go to the Hospital?

With the amount of symptoms you have described I would definitely go the hospital to get it all checked out. Please go and let us know how you get on. I hope you feel better soon.

    I am bleeding, what the...

Γειά σου Scifimom....It sounds like a fissure (ραγισματιά) to me. Has your GI done a thorough check in the area? I would definitely see the doctor sooner rather than wait for another 3 weeks. Περαστικά και κουράγιο

Are you glad you had Surgery?

Personally, I didn't have a choice when it came to surgery - it was either that or die! After years of beng in pain, in and out of A & E, blockages, fatigue, stress, vomiting, diarrhoea, my bowel then perforates whilst at work and peritonitis sets in. Following successful surgery and during my...

    Anyone who's had a resection

I wouldn't say they bring me out in a cold sweat although they do ocassionaly make me stop and take notice. Don't put too much emphasis on it and enjoy being in remission - long may it reign. Keep well.

    Fissure treatment??

Thanks so much for the info. I will definitely NOT go ahead with the stretch and will search out these alternatives. Thanks again. Keep well.

    Fissure treatment??

My GI did not suggest any of those alternatives. What is a GTN ointment and can I buy it over the counter or does it have to be prescribed? I am in Cyprus, eastern Mediterranean island.

    Sex issues

I had sex just once (April this year) since surgery last August and it was truly awful. Apart from the embarassment of undressing in front of somebody else there was the issue of body image, stamina (or lack thereof) and the most feared of all male problems -will it stay up? And if so, for how...
