Future resection, I cant stop crying newly divorced and alone

Hiya Cindy (cleuger) You made me want to cry! This was me, 6 years ago, a mirror image of what you're going thro now. There's a reason why your ex didn't make it into your future, you just can't see it yet, its too hard. I promise you, you will, and you'll be sooooo happy. I've been divorced 4...

    Having a hysterectomy!

long time crohnie, Hiya Yes I had a total hysterectomy in 2001 and it changed my life forever! Once you have your ovaries removed you will have what's called a 'surgical menopause' over 10-15 years worth of menopause in 2 days! I started HRT - Hormonin and have been taking it ever since. I'm 50...

    Humira and surgery?

Hiya Smoothie and welcome I'm not sure what's going on, someone else might know, but I do know from my own experience that vomiting was a red flag sign that I was blocked, and even tho you've had that checked, there still could be narrowing from built up scar tissue, every time you have...

How do you know when it's time for surgery?

In my case the Humira stopped working and couldn't penetrate the thick scarring and narrowing in my TI. This is the question you need to ask, is my active Crohn's due to scarring or inflammation? Before I went ahead with surgery I saw the results on the CT scan, I was totally blocked and in agony.

    What do I tell people?

If it's a firm dx of ulcerative colitis then Infliximab would help, or Humira for Crohn's. Also Natasha, you have a right to choose where you go for treatment, if you're getting no joy from your current docs, then go back to your GP and ask for a referral to another hospital, he has to comply...

Could I have Crohn's? Or simply IBS?

Hiya AliBee and welcome You must be miserable, I know only too well that nagging right sided pain like a stitch, I had it for 20 years and was fobbed off with IBS. 4 years ago that pain radiated into my lower back and it was a sign of an obstruction. I had it all cut out 4 weeks ago, but...

    Endometriosis?

Hiya Nicola Phew, it was donkey's years ago! I can't remember the exam. I had my kids in 1991 and 1994, I hadn't had a diagnosis of endos then. I think it was about 1998 when I got the diagnosis and a lap done. I think I had a few years relief. I had my hysterectomy in 2001. I bet there is so...

    Endometriosis?

Hiya Nicola Yeah I had endos very bad and suffered from as young as 15. Long story but I had a laparoscopy to remove the endos and eventually had a total hysterectomy and ovaries removed too. But I was 37 and had had my 2 kids. here's my wiki entry...

    What do I tell people?

Hiya NatashaChampion As far as I know indeterminate colitis is IBD, inflammatory bowel disease, and shows characteristics of both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's, someone correct me if I'm wrong! How did you get this diagnosis? We're all here for you, you're not alone with this, any questions...

    About to start Prednisone tomorrow..

Good Luck missy moo. Drink tons of water, the reason for the moon face is due to water retention, and reduce your sodium/salt intake too. The moon face isn't immediate neither and it will go the instant you stop the Pred, as will any weight gain. I didn't get any mood changes on it, just a bit...

    Surgery or Medication?

Hiya SarahLou I'm not sure what maintainence meds I'm going to be on, I only see the gastros in April. I have thought about going back on Humira, dunno. I was on Pentasa for 8 years but it didn't work after a while cos of the scar tissue but it kept my attacks away for a few years. My problems...

    3 days post surgery

Good luck, I'm 4 weeks post op and feel nearly back to normal! Go easy with the solids tho, there is still a small risk of obstruction where the join is. Try low residue/low fibre foods and chew lots. Eventually introduce some fibre, but slowly. xxx

    Surgery or Medication?

Hiya SarahLou I had the same decisions to make, I decided to come off all meds including Humira, nothing was working, all I did was make myself more sick with side effects etc. Meds are fab, but they eventually stopped working for me after so many years on them. I sat down with my gastro and...

    Scared about surgery

Hiya Con b I'm 4 weeks post op, it all seems like years ago! I have no pain at all now, I'm driving and doing light housework and a bit of gardening. I'm wary of bending and lifting though. Sleeping was difficult for me too, but I used a pillow either side of my belly to make sure that I didn't...

Been MIA for some time- still no diagnosis.

Hugs StarGirrrrl, I can empathise, I've been MIA too, just waiting for an apt for surgery. I had to wait for nearly 15 years for a diagnosis, I think once the right specialist/doctor/gastro/decent GP comes along, you'll get your dx. It never ends, I spoke to a pig ignorant surgeon on Friday, 5...
