    Modulen help?

D was never one of my Crohn's symptoms but on EN I would be going up to 10 times a day and the stool would be liquid and sometime green in colour. My dietitian said that was normal for some people and not to worry.

Which nuts are easy for you to digest? Which nuts are hard?

The only nuts I can tolerate are smooth nut butters and nut milks. Any solid pieces of nut bother me.

Not Crohn's, not infection....then what is it?

I would recommend asking for a fecal calprotectin test as the next port of call. This tests your stool for inflammation coming from the digestive tract. If it's negative they often diagnose IBS, but if the result is positive then further investigations are needed. A positive result may indicate...

Butter vs extra virgin olive oil - Which one is more healthy? Which one do you choose? Why?

I think it depends what you're doing with it. Some oils change in structure when they're heated and are less good for you, whilst they're ok if not heated. Personally, I choose to use coconut oil. I haven't found any other oil that agrees with me as well as coconut oil does, and it's one where...

Does your Ileum hurt when you touch it...?

Yes, I can feel my ileum too. More so when my inflammation is worse.

    Have you challenged your doctor?

I resisted Azathioprine in order to try treating my Crohn's with diet, but in the end diet wasn't enough and I ended up on Aza anyway. I think it's important that dr's listen to their patients concerns, after all it's our bodies and we have to live with the consequences of the drugs we take (and...

    Clothing Question

Can you wear dresses or skirts with leggings underneath? I find leggings really comfy, especially if I'm bloated or if my tummy is sore. I recently managed to find a pair of jeggings too which are really comfy as they're soft and stretchy, they're a good fit round my legs but are loose enough...

    Anyone have ultra sound done?

I've had several ultrasounds. Like Dusty said, they are only as good as the person interpreting the results. I was hospitalised with suspected appendicitis, given an ultrasound which found nothing. A few weeks after being discharged I was still having pain so I was sent for a second ultrasound...

    Tired but no Diarrhea

It could be the Azathioprine making you tired, it's a common side-effect. Are you having regular blood tests since starting Aza just to make sure your immune cells are at an ok level?

What dose IMURAN are you on? and your weight?

I weigh 49kg and am on 25mg Aza with 100mg Allopurinol. I don't process Aza in an optimal way, so the Allopurinol helps me to produce more of the good stuff from the Aza and less of the harmful stuff.

Low CRP, bleeding, mouth ulcers and discomfort

My CRP has always been normal even through really bad flares. Do you get ESR included in your blood tests? That's another inflammatory marker, and for me that's the one which better reflects my Crohns inflammation, although like CRP it's non-specific. For some reason most gastroenterologists...

How long did you manage without a operation

Getting sick with crohns and Remicade

Yes, having a bug often makes my Crohn's flare up a bit. Usually it calms down as the bug clears up.

Unfamiliar lump in lower left quadrant.

I have the same thing but on my lower right, around the area of my appendix. That's also where my inflammation is located (TI), so I assumed it was inflamed tissue or scar tissue, and the bulging is caused by something passing through a narrowed area. It might settle down after a few more days...

Does stress cause you to flare?

Good luck with the interview! Stress is a big cause of flares for me, but usually once the source of the stress passes the flare calms down and disappears too.

    Free medical prescriptions?

I think you only get free NHS prescriptions if your stoma is permanent. The NHS website states: http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcosts/Pages/Prescriptioncosts.aspx You can only claim a refund if you got a prescription receipt when you paid and it was within that last 3 months.

Easy chicken soup recipe to eat during a flare?

Welcome to the forum! I have a nice, simple recipe for chicken and veg soup - if the lumps in it are an issue you could try running it through a blender perhaps. 2oz butter 2 onions, sliced 2 carrots, diced 2oz plain flour 2 pints chicken stock 1lb cooked chicken 1. Melt butter. Fry veg till...
