Warning: Commercial Dishwashers Can Damage the Gut and Lead to Chronic Disease

@kiny - Thanks for your response. Sometimes simple explanations are the best. In the words of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - " When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. " Would you happen to know what chemicals in dishwashing tablets could be...

Warning: Commercial Dishwashers Can Damage the Gut and Lead to Chronic Disease

I think I may have posted this in one of the earlier threads. But if not, here is the link again. https://scitechdaily.com/warning-commercial-dishwashers-can-damage-the-gut-and-lead-to-chronic-disease/

Early exposure to antibiotics decreases risk of developing crohn's disease.

It is interesting read. It is a long read and I couldn't figure out the efficacy and what other control parameters were there. Assuming that this is one singular factor and what the study states is true, then this settles the debate that gut microbiome dysbiosis is the cause of Crohn's disease...

Higher Early Anti-TNF Levels May Be Crucial to Treatment Success

I agree that different people can have different types of Crohns. Perhaps the following research can outline the differences and someday targeted medications can be targeted at the beginning instead of trial and error...

Higher Early Anti-TNF Levels May Be Crucial to Treatment Success

Hi @Scipio - I suppose the billion dollar question is how do the doctors get the right medication. I was at an event organized by Crohns and Colitis Foundation and there was this teenager who talked about his journey and there was no biologic which worked for him. Eventually, he had to undergo...

Exposure to Certain Chemicals and Pollutants Associated with Increased Risk of IBD in Humans

@Scipio - I had always suspected the role of pesticides. I suppose if they can narrow it down that will be helpful.

Environmental factors, not genetics, confer the highest risk of developing CD in multiplex families.

@kiny - I have posted this link in another thread too. Who knows what these toxins are doing to the human body. Sometimes, I think we should go back to 50 years or 100 years back when packaging was a lot simpler and a lot less plastic was used. Again how do we prove the deadly effects of these...

Plastic pollution and could it be linked to an increase in incidence of Crohn's disease among children

I came across this article in CNN https://edition.cnn.com/2024/09/16/health/food-packaging-chemical-toxins-study-wellness/index.html The whole point about this thread was to initiate discussion about environmental factors with plastics being one and other chemical toxins. Western societies in...

@sssm8719 - Any update on the results of the colonoscopy? And how is sulfasalazine going? Has the rash subsided?

Genetic variants and crohn's disease. Some perspective.

I agree that it is the environment though what exactly it is in the environment which is the trigger for Crohn's is a billion dollar question. I came across this article about forever chemicals. On the one hand, we have got microplastics and on the other hand, we have got these forever...

Plastic pollution and could it be linked to an increase in incidence of Crohn's disease among children

@Scipio - thanks for your response. I agree that it will be hard to show causality but even if the studies show the level of microplastics in the colon, then it will show that the microplastics are dangerous. I don't know what is the way to do it but one thought is assuming during colonoscopy...

    Two year old with symptoms

I think 1 month is a little too long but check with your son's doc. I am based in Australia and in my son's case, it took 2 days to get the results post colonoscopy. The pediatric gastro should have provided an update. One more thing - please go to your son's gastro immediately and urgently for...

Plastic pollution and could it be linked to an increase in incidence of Crohn's disease among children

Hi @Scipio - Thanks for your response. I agree that Crohn's has been around longer but since Crohn's can have multiple reasons and my hypothesis is that since the incidence of Crohn's disease among young kids is growing at a fast (or alarming) rate, it is highly possible that because...

Plastic pollution and could it be linked to an increase in incidence of Crohn's disease among children

Another example of plastics in human body. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/23/health/plastics-in-brain-wellness/index.html https://www.msn.com/en-au/health/other/study-on-microplastics-reveal-their-shocking-impact-on-the-human-brain/ar-AA1plSG7...

Plastic pollution and could it be linked to an increase in incidence of Crohn's disease among children

I came across this article and I have long thought about it. Is it possible that increase in plastic pollution and the fact that it has entered our food chain is causing an increase in the incidence of IBD in children?? It is a hypothesis but unfortunately I don't think any of the researchers...

    Two year old with symptoms

Your son's gastro should have communicated it to you how long it will take. Two weeks seems rather long but leave it to you.
