Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis or IBD

I had Crohn's for 9 years with almost no symptoms. I occasionally had diarrhea if I ate something that didn't agree with me and sometimes I felt a little bloated but generally I was fit and healthy and had a very active life. The only medication I was on at the time was Sulphasalazine. Then...

    Bubbles and gas

I find laying on my side and rocking gently really helps. Herbal teas also do the trick.

    Injection location

Always in the tummy and always on the left side.

    Congestion

It's more likely that its our compromised immune systems picking up every bug floating around. Having said that Humira is not short of its side effects...... Hope you're feeling better.

    Congestion

I have been congested for over a week and have lots of phlegm. My GI told me to hold off on my Humira jab until it passes.

    What could this be?

I noticed that whenever I am gassy and have a BM the toilet fills with blood and even after my BM I am sitting on the loo and the blood drips out. My GI said I have an external fissure which I very much doubt as I have no pain during BM's. I do get itchy at times and I used GTN ointment for 1...

    Guess where I am!

Sorry to hear that Shazz.....I too had a pulmonary embolism after surgery so I know how scary (and painful) it is. The Clexaine and Warfarin will soon get you back on track. Hope you feel better very soon. Costas

    Question about diagnosis

The doctor sounds like a complete moron and insensitive with it too. How dare he diagnose what it may be without even looking? I agree with the above posts - have the colonoscopy for peace of mind. I hope it's nothing serious..... as for the first doctor, I would make him understand that...

How do you feel mentally when better?

I feel exactly the same as you do. I think it's only natural since this f**k**g disease is so unpredictable. Costas

    Psoriasis?

I have also recently developed what I thought was psoriasis on my right wrist, right lower arm and right lower leg. Scaly, red patches basically. My GI was adamant that it is not psoriasis since psoriasis attacks the elbows, scalp, ears etc. He has referred me to a dermatologist so I will...

    Do you tell people?

I rarely discuss it. Obviously family know but very few friends and co-workers are aware that I have Crohn's. I had the best opportunity post-surgery when I lost over 20 kg and opened up to the few who showed concern but other than that I "pretend" that all is well.

Will I lose weight if I have surgery?

I lost just over 20 kg after surgery (went down to 40 kg) I have gained 15 kg back but finding it nearly impossible to put the last 6 or 7 back on.

    Blood tests on Humira

Absolutely...... after 3 months you should have had at least initial tests done to see how your organs are tolerating Humira..... I would insist on labs.

In remission but still got diarrhea?

I can totally relate nogutsnoglory......it's so disheartening once you have tried almost everything but still the dreaded D squirts out of our behinds.... have you tried psyllium?

In remission but still got diarrhea?

After a bit of a shaky and scary start with psyllium (I was taking it in the morning with my blood thinners making them totally inactive consequently my INR dropped dangerously low) I now take psyllium in the evenings. Initially there was not much of a change but now after about 2 weeks of...

How long of a large bowel can you get away with?

Hi George, I had 80 cm removed (not sure what that is in inches) consequently I visit the loo between 8-12 times a day and its always diarrhea. I don't want to sound too negative but my GI told me that in time things will improve and balance themselves out. I'm still hoping after 16 months...
