    Humira in the UK

I'm in the UK and on Humira and I've been told about the 12 month thing too, although it's early days for me (I've only been on it 8 weeks but it's working amazingly). I now dread coming off Humira next year as last year I was left with no treatment for months after surgery and my Crohn's came...

Bag keeps leaking & the output is so high

Hi! What meds are you on? I had an ileostomy for 8 months and I had to take 8 loperamide pills a day to slow things down, else everything went nuts and I was emptying all the time. The only things that caused blockages for me were certain foods that I hadn't chewed properly like coleslaw and...

Starting Humira - chicken pox test

Much thanks for your help :) I had the blood test and it turns out I've had it, so I'm good to go, yippeeee!

Starting Humira - chicken pox test

Hi, I am about to start Humira and my doctor has ordered a blood test to confirm whether I have had chicken pox or not (and also the TB and hepatitis blood tests, and a chest X-ray). My parents are fairly sure that I have not had chicken pox - I can't remember. I just wondered what this will...

Temporary Illeostomy and no active Crohns

Hi gracifer I also had no active Crohn's whilst I had the temporary stoma. It has been 6 months since my reversal and I can't tell if my Crohn's is back or if it's still my intestines adjusting to everything. It seems like a flare to me, slowly getting worse not better! I'm waiting for an MRI...

If you have a Bag, can you still go swimming and scuba dive?

Oops sorry nogutsnoglory, I missed your post. I think there are special shorts you can get to hide it when swimming. I remember them in my ostomy products catalogue!

    Ileostomy

Hello GEC, I had the best worry-free months of my life with my temporary stoma and I wish I still had it! It is great being able to choose when you want to go to the loo instead of being controlled by disease. I hope you get on OK, all the best to you.

If you have a Bag, can you still go swimming and scuba dive?

I had a temporary stoma for 8 months. Swimming was OK but once I went in the sauna and steam room. Afterwards the bag felt a bit weird like the heat was starting to melt it off. I thought "meh, it'll be fine" thinking of how when I had a hot bath it always made it more sticky. Half an hour later...

Colonoscopy - are you required to bring someone with you in the UK?

But I won't be a long way from home if I travel back that night...I'll be home! How soon do you know if there's been a perforation? Does it take a few hours to reveal itself (if they don't realise...or do they always realise at the time?) Hmmm I honestly thought that last time I felt absolutely...

Colonoscopy - are you required to bring someone with you in the UK?

Thanks so much, everyone. Have asked a mate in London to ditch work for the afternoon, so all is sorted. Weird though how they were fine with me leaving by myself last time. In fact, I remember how after I'd had my tea and biscuits they couldn't wait to get rid of me - I would have liked a...

Colonoscopy - are you required to bring someone with you in the UK?

OK, cheers. There's a few people who can come, it's just going to be expensive because I didn't book for them in advance, doh! I'd rather save the money if I can, but not if I'm going to be imprisoned in a waiting area for 24 hours!

Colonoscopy - are you required to bring someone with you in the UK?

Colonoscopy - bringing someone with you? It's been a couple of years since my last colonoscopy. Last time I didn't take anyone - I lived about 5 minutes away from the hospital and just walked home, no problemo. I've got one on the 4th March and someone from the hospital phoned me up the other...

    Jaw pain after upper endoscopy

Interesting...my jaw has not been the same since I woke up from surgery last Feb. At first it kept locking and was painful as hell. Now it clicks noisily whenever I open my mouth or chew. It doesn't hurt but it annoys people because apparently it sounds like it hurts....click click click click...

    Fistula after surgery and abscesses

I just thought I would update if anyone is interested :) I saw my surgeon and he said it was normal for things to go through more quickly because he removed my right colon (is that half of my colon?!) - I was not aware until this month that so much had been removed! He said the right colon is...

    Fistula after surgery and abscesses

Things seem a lot better now, I'm using imodium every other day and things are noticeably less urgent when I completely avoid coffee (which is difficult, because I love it!) I haven't noticed any undigested food for a while, either. I think perhaps I was just being paranoid, but we shall see...

    Fistula after surgery and abscesses

Hi I had surgery to remove a fistula between my small intestine and sigmoid colon in February. The fistula meant that most food bypassed my large intestine entirely. I had an ileostomy until last month, it was then reversed. I had 2 small abscesses after the reversal that were treated with oral...

Gaining your energy back after surgery?

Hiya. Do you know what your white blood count, ESR and CRP scores were on your blood tests? I don't think a slightly elevated platelet count would make you feel like you do. Although I suppose if any scores were very high your doctor would have said something! Hopefully the stool test will shed...

Gaining your energy back after surgery?

Hi ForeverCrohns, I felt like this for a few months after my surgery. It was my first surgery and I didn't know how I was supposed to feel. I couldn't walk for long and got faint all the time. I got my bloods checked and I was quite anaemic, and my inflammation markers were sky high so they did...

    Upcoming Reversal

Hi Downnvrout I had my ileostomy reversed on Friday. I keep patting where my bag used to be from habit and then I remember it's not there. I really miss my stoma (Stevie) and I feel sad, like I've lost a friend. Hope your recovery continues to go well.
