Tired of being WAY too skinny... Help!

I agree and did already address the diet issue some time ago. With crohns, celiac disease and UC I was having absorption issues and food passed right out of me once consumed. That has stopped after a few weeks of using LDN, which to me works very well. After stabilizing around 130-134lbs I...

    Hope

LDN is not a cure all and no big pharma will endorse it since there is no profit motive. Since it was already approved by the FDA in 1984 it is now technically "off label" so you can get it regardless of the FDA process. There was a study completed in 2007 regarding children with crohns on LDN...

    Question about flares

Medicines only work for a short period of time and lose their effectiveness. If I was in your shoes (and I have been years ago) I would try 2 things. First, alter your diet and perhaps try to avoid all processed foods and essentially go gluten free. Being GF is a necessity for myself but...

    Hope

Well waiting or expecting the big pharma to come up with a cure is, sad to say, very unlikely. Why? What solve a disease that generates over 10 BILLION dollars a year? Think about it. Same goes for cancer. Sorry to be so blunt but after 4 years of listening to medical professionals and getting...

Affording Remicade in Europe? please help!

that's quite lame. sorry to hear that. The LDN movement started in Europe and I am sure there is a way to get what you need with a little pushing......or a lot of pushing forward to give it a go. If I was a doctor this would be my first approach to crohns..but I am not. Here is a website that...

    Can't handle being me today

Sorry you are having a bad day and feeling blue. I have been there many times (minus putting on makeup). When this passes, as bad times always do, perhaps considering a different approach to crohns may be of some assistance. First, not only have I walked in your shoes many times but when you...

New to Crohn's... Are my meds working?

Are meds working? That is a tricky question but from what I know (6 years since diagnosis and over 10 years of on again / off again symptoms with pain, etc) I can say for certain that any medicine that helps is only short-lived. Drugs like Humira or Remicade usually last maybe 3 years before its...

Kinda freaking out...son is newly diagnosed

Just a suggestion from an experienced Crohns patient......I have CD, UC, colitis and a few other lame diagnosis. I was very ill in 2004 and went to the hospital...no diagnosis as all assumed the flu. Became ill every 6-12 months and after 4 medical professionals no isolating the issue, one...

Affording Remicade in Europe? please help!

Maybe try an affordable approach.........consider using LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone)...... I have used it for 6 months and am starting to see awesome results such as the following: no more pain, able to eat more food without vomiting, absorbing nutrients, sleeping better, having normal bowel...

Tired of being WAY too skinny... Help!

I have walked a mile in your shoes exactly! I understand the "why the heck is this person so skinny........is it drugs or AIDS?".........I am 5'10", never overweight and lost 50lbs.....a few pounds more and I would be in the hospital. After 5 long years of pain, living close to a bathroom...

What do you do when you've tried everything?

Lilyw, My heart goes out to you for what you have had to experience. I have a suggestion and I hope it works for you, which is a different medicine. The medicine is called "LDN" for "Low Dose Naltrexone"..... It is a compound medicine, currently in research for crohns, MS, etc.....The main...

Do my son's symptoms sound like Crohn's?

Try getting tested for Celiac Disease......getting pains after eating something (with wheat or some form of gluten) could be the problem......do not change diet before getting tested or you could get a false positive......
