    Bloody stool & remicade

Hi toughlife, good luck with the Remicade. Also, lots of drugs in the works so hopefully something will be available soon that will be more effective than remicade and with less side effects. Let's hope.

    Bloody stool & remicade

Thanks for the informative reply. I appreciate it. I got this disease late in life, when I was 68, and so I am treading slowly trying not to let it defeat me psychologically. I am a writer and teacher and have no intention of letting it interfere with my vocation. In other words, I need to...

    Bloody stool & remicade

Thanks, Clash. For some reason, my GI does not seem too concerned about it. I am already on Imuran so I don't want to take Methotrexate (also means I can't have a couple of glasses of wine on the weekend). Maybe the answer is tweaking the Remicade by upping the dose. Or just waiting to see if...

    Bloody stool & remicade

Hi Everyone, I am going for my fourth remicade treatment next week. I am okay except there is some minor blood in my stools. I can put up with the blood as long as everything else is okay--motility, firmness, etc. I am trying not to worry about this so I can just live my life. Anyone else with...

I am only on 50mg a day. You were taking 150mg when the joint pain started?

    Advice

I am on IMuran and am finding that it is aggravating the arthritis in my wrists, fingers, and in some other joints. I am only taking 50mg a day. Any advice from any one else having this problem would be appreciated.

    Joint pain due to Imuran

I have been on Imuran 50 mg for about a month. Has anybody experienced joint pain as a result of taking this drug. I have severe arthritis in my wrist and hands already but it seems that this drug has aggravated the condition. Any help would be appreciated.

    Entocort

Hi Lauren, Thanks for the reply and I hope your next appointment goes well. I am now on 15mg of Prednisone and in a week will go down to 10, unless the bleeding occurs. Hope all goes well with your doctor. I am in Canada and deal with a university hospital so I do have email access to my...

    Entocort

Hi Lauren, Entocort was useless. Methatrexate worked like a charm but gave me so much gas that I felt like a walking methane bomb. Impossible to continue. The 20mg of prednisone makes me jittery and am not on 15mg along with the 50mg of Imuran. Doctor told me today that if the Imuran works I...

    Entocort

Am now on 15 mg of prednisone and today I started taking 50mg of Imuran. Anyone else taking this combination and if so can you tell me how you are doing. Thanks.

    Entocort

HI Sam, thanks for the note. The only problem I have delayed taking pred is that I had a bad reaction to it a while back so I have resisted doing it. Made me very anxious and interfered with my writing. But if I can take it for a short time, maybe I should reconsider. But the news about the...

    Entocort

I am also talking salofalk. I don't have diarrhea but I do have blood in my stools. No other symptoms. Inflammation is in the sigmoid colon. Salofalk worked fine for two months then had to go on an antibiotic for an ear infection and as soon as I ended the Amoxicillan, the blood returned and...

    Entocort

I am four days into using Entocort enema and there is no change regarding the blood in my stools. Does anyone have any information regarding how long it takes for Entocort to become effective?

    Recently diagnosed with Crohns

Hi Clynn, Thanks for the very important supportive advice. I need it at this point in my life. Is there any significant difference between getting crohns when you are older as opposed to being younger. I have heard that the disease is less aggressive if you get it in your sixties. But I am not...

    Recently diagnosed with Crohns

Hi Jessica, thanks for the note. Actually, I had the runs just before the bleeding started in September. I had caught some dreadful virus. Soon afterwards the bleeding started, but from that point on I never had the runs. In addition to taking salofalk and Entocort, I am also taking one packet...

    Recently diagnosed with Crohns

Hi AngryBird, Thanks for the advice. I am feeling a bit anxious. Not completely convinced by the diagnosis, though the reality of blood in my stools since September, with a brief reprieve for two months with the Salofalk, has certainly put a bit of a scare in me. I am a bit older at 68 but very...

    Recently diagnosed with Crohns

In September, I caught a terrible virus, followed by the runs. Withn a few days I had blood in my stools. Had a colonoscopy in October and biopsy was indeterminate. Put on Salofalk, which worked for two months, but caught an ear infection and took ten days of Amoxicillan. Within a week the...
