I have been on Imuran 50 mg for about a month. Has anybody experienced joint pain as a result of taking this drug. I have severe arthritis in my wrist and hands already but it seems that this drug has aggravated the condition.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ive never had any problems with imuran but if it is getting that bad I'd suggest talking to your doctor about stopping it and trying another drug.

If you do a quick google search on it and joint pain you can see that a lot of people have mentioned experiencing it. Humira is also used to treat RA and my Rheumy said it may help with my osteoarthritis as well as the Crohn's. So far so good. If the med you're on is causing more problems and not really helping with the Crohn's then I agree that you may need to try something else.

I have just come off that Drug Imuran and I was on the same dose for about the same time. I was told by GP I had the flu for 2weeks and specialist told me not the drug a flare up.Blood tests confirmed I was indeed having a bad reaction! Im still having terrible joint pain & Ive been off it for about two weeks. Have a appoinment with Rheumy next week. Just on 40ml of steroids at the moment. All I can say is that you know your body if it dosent feel right talk to your Dr . good luck

I have had no join pain while on azathioprine/imuran. But i did have joint pain at the start of my flare while taking prednisone.

I get the most debilitating joint pain from Imuran and prednisolone to the point where I literally can't walk. I think it's disgraceful they still try to push treatment at you that clearly doesn't react well with your body...
