Brief history, for last couple of years i would mention to my reg Dr that every once and while i would get tummy aches and my stools were loose, when i told him the next year i still got tummy aches he said your 53 now lets do colonoscopy.when i turned 50 they did the little colonoscropy forget what you call it,anyway now it's Nov 2009 the GI Dr does the scope and tells me you have crohns showed pictures of my stricture closed to 3cm,he put on Humira and Pentassa, he said well take another look in 6 months.May 26 2010 saw the Dr before we started told him the meds are working doc no tummy aches but my stools are still loose.colonoscopy is over Dr comes to see me and says your still at 3cm I put a ballon in it got to 5cm but i need seven to get thru so i can see your small gut, then he tells me the sticture is 3 inches long he wants to cut it out.man my heart stopped I said Dr i'm not even sick he said i know and i'm glad your not, this way you can pick when you want to do it.he said that thing has got to go.I meet with him Fri the 5/28/10 after he talks to the surgeon.I guess the 1 questions i have for the forum does anybody know the recovey time for this surgery?oh he still wants me on Humira, well what do you guys think.

heya 5 iron, recovery all depends on the person really, and the surgery if its a cut and join job, youll be up and walking about near normally within the weeks end, especially if its keyhole, i had a hemicolectomy and yes the first two days after were painfull but the pain nurse really helped, worst part was them getting you out of bed the next day and into the shower but after a week at home taking it easy i was fishing again lol, my surgery was a rush job, as they tried to do the same as what you had done, but my gut burst in that area, looking back it was the best thing to happen to me as i didnt know what was going on till i woke up in the ward with a 12" zipper down my front lol, and after the surgery pain wore off i would be in bed smiling cause of no more gut pains, hope it all goes well for you

at the end of the 1st week i was eating mainly softish foods soups bread, then onto near normal stuff except a good curry lol, i waited a month or two before i tried one, but listen to what the docs say and advise you to eat, the 3-4 days not being able to eat after the op were hell smelling the food that the others in the ward were eating, and yes the hosp food was actually very good here lol

Thanks again gmm, are you in Scotland, sounds like you are doing good now, curry is that the stuff that will put sweat beads on your forehead.

hehe oh yeah try the wrong one thats too hot and youll need to keep the toilet roll in the fridge, yep north scotland way up the top, just been watching the heaviest hailstones ive seen in years, doing kinda ok at the mo thanks, been on nearly every treatment and drug thats out there but just couldnt get off the prednisilone, was the only thing that worked but after 8 years on it im on humira now just started on my 3rd single dose, and its kept the gut pains away so far but a few extra trips to the toilet though, which isnt too bad a trade off,, just wish the pains in all the joints would go away hoping its a withdrawal symptom of being on pred so long and at a high dose, was quite shocked at the price of it too as we get out treatment free, cant see how i could afford it if i was in usa
