Hi I just wanted to update you all where I am at. I had resection Surgery at 8am Thursday morning! I had major fear and anxiety going in to this.

It is now sunday afternoon and I am happy to say all is going well.

I followed a lot of the advice I read on here and made sure I got myself up and about asap. I was walking 20 steps by Thursday night and fought through the pain to walk more on Friday. The surgeons have been in every day checking on things and up until yesterday everything was going ok.

Yesterday (Sat) they found that my bowel was quiet and as it had not opened they feared it was still sleeping. They suggested putting in a nasal/gastro tube. I had an attempt at this but found it too painful and distressing so in the end refused.

I had weened myself off morpheine that morning and kept walking. By 5:30pm my bowels were working and everything has been uphill since then.

I have been on fluids only but as I write I am waiting on my first meal of solids. I have been told if this arrives and stays down and my bowels continue to work then I will be coming home tomorrow.

I am so happy with the way it has all gone and the recovery time. I know it is far from over and there is still a lot of recovery needed but I am strong and determined. I just cant wait to get home to my own bed and lounge and food lol.

Thank you everyone that has offered words of support, you have all given me strength and courage to get through this. You are a massive support to me. :ghug:

Glad your surgery went well mcjmalaboot's. Hubby was the sanme way he made himself walk ASAP when I was sleep he would walk around the hospital he said I didn't realize how big it was lol. Make sure you get lots of rest praying for a speedy recovery. Keep us posted on your recovery and let us know if you have questions.

Good luck, I'm 4 weeks post op and feel nearly back to normal!
Go easy with the solids tho, there is still a small risk of obstruction where the join is.
Try low residue/low fibre foods and chew lots. Eventually introduce some fibre, but slowly.
