Hi all

First post here. Just feeling a bit freaked out today. I was diagnosed with UC in 2008 and had two flare ups after the initial diagnosis to 2012. Since then i have been relatively healthy being in a position to carry out a pretty normal life going to the loo no more than 2 or 3 times a day.

In 2013 after a colonoscopy the diagnosis was changed to CD.

My remission has got to the stage that I was not taking any meds (and have not been for the last year). I am only seeing a specialist nurse now once a year and the next appointment is November of this year.

This morning, I went to the loo thought nothing of it. Passing stools is quite an uncomfortable experience but everything is pretty solid these days so I accept that as being part of the condition, however, this morning I looked down into the pan and saw a bright red colour which freaked me out.

Hoping this is a one off and not the start of a period of deteriorated health, but my question to other sufferers is does this happen to you? Ie are you healthy for a period of time and still get episodes of blood on stools.

I will be monitoring this closely. Since I was diagnosed I always have this worry about getting colon cancer.

Thanks!
