I am now home for the first time since my resection surgery last Wednesday. 25cm of small intestine /terminal ileum removed. I am not going to lie it has been the hardest week of my life, And i was not prepared for what i went through in hospital and it has been a tough road. Its nice to be home and tucked up in my own bed now.
im still bery tender and have only been put on parcetamol.
I hope the discomfort doesnt las muc longer.

Any tips to a speedy recovery? Diets? Exercise? Sleeping positions?

A couple of pics 6 days later

Ahhh, looks like you were lapro? Should be feeling better within another week or so. Remember that all your remaining guts need to settle into a new place now that a big chunk is missing!

Rest, rest, rest. Don't lift, open a window, vacuum, drive. Roll over then swing your legs to get out of bed. Then rest some more!

Low res diet, easy on the dairy!

Then rest some more!

Hope you're feeling better soon! - Amy

I don't have any advice, but I wanted to wish you a speedy recovery! I hope you are feeling better real soon!

Hi I was on a low residue diet before and after my resection. I still somewhat follow that even years later. I would not exercise at all for now, your body just went through trauma. Follow ypur doctors orders and you know your body best. Do not over do it even if you feel like you have all the energy, you will feel the effects of it after.
As far as sleeping position you might not have to follow what I did. My dog sleeps with me. He is tiny but loves to cuddle. I had to sleep with a pillow next to me until i healed so that he would not go near my tummy because I was very soar.
I hope that you have a speedy recovery, and feel well soon.

I have no had a resectioning although I have had other surgeries and my surgeon recommended bromaline it is pinapple vitamin, it promotes healing. I wrongly suggest u ask ur doctor before trying it though. God bless and good luck.

hi i never had this done but i wanted to wish you fast recovery and try and take it easy the next few days. dont push your self to do anything and even tho you might feel better after a bit still try and take it easy..

Hey Sugarbunny
yep- your tummy looks like mine except you had much more done on the inside. I thin we had them done almost the same day as well. I am probably also healing faster since I didn't have my intestines removed..
I hope you are doing okay! I wouldnt be exercising either :) nice try though...haha... I am amazed at what they can do with a laparoscopy.. I am sooo glad they can do that now...
I have my holes on the same side too so I can only sleep on my right side. For the first while, it was only on my back.
I hope you are doing okay and your recovery time goes by quickly!
Take care and hang in there. :)

P.S: and wow..they only sent you home with tylenol?? is it working?
