:ymad:
6 months ago on my birthday I started throwing up. Thought it was food poisoning. Docs kept putting me on anti-nausea and called it a day for 2 months. Finally got a referral to GI. GI doc ran an Upper endo, showed a bunch of ulcers in my duodenum. I have been on Nexium with awful side effects for over three months now with no improvement and my doctor refuses to take me off of them. (No libido, headaches, sleepiness, constipation). Doc's response is "I've never heard of any of those side effects. We can keep you on the nexium for a year before we worry about calcium supplements". Biopsies just showed chronic inflammation. Went in for a follow up appointment with GI and he sends me to a neurologist!! I had a small brain cyst that was shown benign about 3 years ago and I never got a follow up MRI to measure growth. My GI refuses to see me again unless I get another MRI and meet with a neurologist! I understand how it may affect my vomitting but how would that cause ulcers??
I asked if it could be affecting other parts of my GI tract and he told me to take a log of the amount of vomit vs. bowel movements. Only been a week but the days I do go I only vomit once compared to three times a day. I asked him to do a colonoscopy to rule it out and he won't because my symptoms have nothing to do with my large intestine.
Why is military health care so awful?
