Hello! I was put on 6MP last week and I have some questions about it! I have noticed that my appetite is starting to change, I'm not as hungry as I was before starting the medicine. Has anyone else had this? Also, I feel nauseated more and also very gassy and sometimes bloated? What are your personal opinions on this medicine and has anyone had any success on this? Thanks for your time reading this! :ycool:

What dose are you on? I found that splitting the dose did help me wth appetite and fatigue.

I don't think you are suppose to split the dose, but my son has only been taking it about three months so I could be wrong. His nausea eventually went away. His appetite did lessen but he also went off Prednisone too. It helps him to take it right before bed, no eating 2 hours before or one hour after. The nausea was helped by zofran while it lasted (which was quite a while). He hasn't had any nausea now for about 3 weeks, he use to have it daily. Once the nausea stopped he did eat better. I will say that when the nausea was the worse he also had markers show up in his blood test and they lowered the dosage. Maybe you will need a lower dose.

The pills that I have are 50mg pills, but I'm only suppose to take 25 mg a day so I did split them in half and take only half a day. I wonder if I take it at night if that would help?

They will up your dose if your body tolerates it well. Make sure they took bloodwork before starting 6mp and a week or two after starting and then every 3 months to make sure you don't have adverse side effects. Take it at night.

Yeah, I've been on it now for two weeks and I'm getting blood work done friday. Thanks for the info!

BBack, that's another thing about being on 6MP. Your doctor will likely want to do blood work every 2 months to check your liver functions. I've been on 6MP for as long as I can remember. I asked my doctor about this, and you should as well. For my doctor, he stated that it does not matter if I fast or not for my blood test, as the levels they are looking at don't matter if I fast or not. He did say however, if I DID NOT FAST (no food after dinner the night before), to tell the lab tech, so that if the sugar levels were elevated, they know why.
