Our ped Gi already knew this could be an issue and must have tested my crohns kiddo 5-6 times over the years . Never had antibodies and never was positive for it .
So in his case -crohns came first
Never had mono

Keep in mind mono is common disease among teens and young adults . Crohns kids have suppressed immune systems from meds so they are more likely to get really sick with mono .

So it doesn’t seem out of the ordinary that pediatric crohns (typically dx at adolescence) and mono would both be occurring .

I think what makes Crohn's so difficult is that there could be multiple factors and different factors in different kids. e.g in kid A, the cause was maybe Epstein Barr virus + 1 more thing and in another kid B, the cause could be totally different e.g Kp bacteria + 1 more thing. And also the medications could be different. And again, this article may or may not result in any future medication is a big question mark.
