One of the most irritating things I have is abdominal cramps. It is like a knawing in my stomach. It is so small but it is irritating. I know that pop/soda is one of the main irritants and it is hard for me to stay away from that stuff. My cramps generally come at the end of the day when there's more food in my gut. Anyone else have this? Or maybe a solution ?
Some times I don't want to tell my doctors cause I think he has sicker patients to deal with than to have to deal with my crampy question.

I know how you feel. It sucks! It just seems like whenever there is food in me I feel like crap. The everyday cramping and pain is tolerable but the severe cramping that comes is miserable.
Normally when my cramping gets bad it's time to go on a liquid diet because of all the other problems I get to.
Don't be afraid to tell your doc!

I just take pain killers now. Really if it was not for the pain I would feel fine. My D is not that bad, I am not losing weight, but not putting any on. From my colonocopy my colon is a mess, but really outside of the insane abdominal pain I am OK. Now with Percocets I feel much better and can get through the day until they can figure out how to heal my colon.

I get stomach pain and cramps everyday and it seems like when I put anything solid in my gut. It makes me not want to eat. (Plus I normally also get nausea or vomit)

I can associate with all the replies i get this daily have it on my right side as i type this

I get a lot of cramps, or I used to. This probably won't work for everyone, but my doctor put me on the low FODMAP diet (http://ibs.about.com/od/ibsfood/a/The-FODMAP-Diet.htm) and it helped greatly--my D and gas all but disappeared, and my cramps died down over time as the inflammation decreased. I'm doing the diet in conjunction with Imuran and Pentasa, so I"m assuming the meds are doing their part, too. Lately I've had problems whenever I stray from the diet, but they fade more quickly than the generally inflamed/queasy feeling I used to have for weeks at a time. Maybe you can similarly identify a combination of diet and meds that will help, given time?

Hang in there, everyone! Keep hoping and be persistent with your doctors--there are ways to help, and you deserve them, they just take time and patience.

I also get this. Have you tried dicyclomine medication. It lessens mine. Also on days it is worse than normal I supplement with midol which helps too. I still get days when nothing works but the dicyclomine which I currently take everday has helped some.

Curious on the pop/soda that you drink, is it diet? I found that the artificial sweeteners really increase the cramping. Doesn't matter what it's in, I have to avoid it. I don't drink pop much anymore but when I do, it cannot be the diet ones. I used to drink pop regularly but the pain got to be too much so gave it up for the most part. Maybe one a month now and usually when nothing else available.

I hope you find some relief.

Ya when not doing well, night time seems to be the worst. I think for me it is bc I get tired by the end of the day and no longer on a "go go" momentum and when i finally sit my body hits me with the tummy aches.. kinda like "hey, stop f'ing moving!" I use a heat pad at night and that helps me a lot, I also drink anise tea which helps get the gas out so reduces the pain as well. Unfort i would have to say that soda does the same to me and the only way around it, is to prob stop drinking it :(. Sorry bc it seems like it is something you really like. I wish you luck and hope you start feeling better... hope the heat pad and tea help you too!

I've had the FODMAP diet recommended to me - some of which I already do because I'm allergic to yeast and soy, and boy, those are in everything. It would be hard to give up mango and avocado though! Interested in other people's experience with it. For me, the triggers for flareups are anything bread, fried, or salad greens of any kind...
