So Ds sees his Gi Monday
But for the past two nights has woken up with abdominal pain in the middle of the night (4 am and then 2 am next night )

Has this happened to your kiddo ?

Before C started remicade it happened often, to the point that it would alter his sleep schedule. He said the worst of his pain came at night waking him up.

Yes - more often with joint pain, but definitely with abdominal pain too. Mostly it happened when M's Crohn's was not under control but it has happened since then too (very rarely though, and it seems to be related to what she has eaten).

It used to happen to DS when he had his stricture. His GI thought it was his before bed snack finally hitting the point of the stricture and getting blocked up, which was painful for him. Vomiting would ease or make the pain go away.

Is he nauseous or has he vomited with it?

He has Gastroparesis so he is always nauseous
But tends to eat better with meds
This stopped with the increase lower belly pain
He thought he would vomit but didn't
Switched to all formula Friday and will stick with that until we see GI on Monday

So Gi wants Ds on all formula for two weeks minimum
Then see how abdominal pain does
With strict instructions on when to head to ER
Ds agreed to all formula
We tried food Sunday
That was a disaster

Ds had a similar blip last year and two Weeks of EEN with slow reintroduction of food fixed it

Poor guy. I'm sorry that he needs to go through another 'exclusive' period. :( But, I hope a short run takes care of the pain. :ghug:

that's usually when my pain is the worst as well.. When I go to bed and have been laying down a little while. A hot pad helps sometimes..

Grace does 2 weeks week intervals of EEN every couple months.
She'll even tell me when she thinks it time to get off food. Of course she fights it to the bitter end.

I hope the 2 weeks fly by for him and settles everything down.

So far maybe a tiny bit of improvement but pain is still not at a good level but it's only been three days
He has a good sense of humor about it still though

Do they know what is causing the pain? Does he have a stricture? Maybe just some irritation/inflammation? N used to wake up with pain because of a stricture. I think this has much improved since he had surgery. I hope the two weeks of EEN help as it did last year!

No worries for stricture
Last Jan -April went through a slew of tests and admits over similar pain
Finally tried two weeks of EEN and then crohns exclusive diet
Fixed the issue
Got away from the diet end of December due to Gastroparesis
And of course now pain is back 12 weeks later

He no longer wakes up in pain and pain was down this am
So improving
