I generally don't have period and I haven't done for a long time. I used to be on the depo injection which I was on for quite a few years. Starting getting spotting on it so I changed to the implant.

Been on the implant about 18 months, at the start I was spotting on it constantly so I take the marvelon pill and this stops the bleeding.

For at least 2 weeks I have started spotting again, but it has been constant. I have taken the pill and the implant is still in place. It is so annoying because I can't do "anything" with it.

I don't understand how it was all OK and now its not. I am giving my body a break from the pill to see if this helps. The only change I have had recently is coming off arcoxia and going onto sulfasalazine.

Can CD affect period?

Did your GYN advise that you take the pill to stop the spotting? I'm not quite understanding that part. Were you taking it daily or only when the spotting occurred? If you have been taking the pills irregularly, I'd say that's the problem. Any change in birth control and hormone levels can throw things off. But either way, the implant and the pills contain hormones and your body may be confused by the extra amounts.

Crohn's can affect periods during a flare, but it's usually not a big issue - just some irregularity. If you're in remission, Crohn's should not alter your periods at all.

It was the GP that advised me to take the pill to stop the spotting. I take it daily, every morning. Have done for about a year.

I'd advise that you talk to a GYN about that, just to make sure. Two forms of birth control seems excessive and potentially risky.

I don't have a GYN. In the UK your GP provides contraception or you go to a family planning clinic. The only way to see a GYN is by referral from your GP, if they think something is wrong.

I need to go for a blood test so I will bring it up when I am there, thanks x

it is a well known fact that any type of hormonal family planning--pill, patch, implant, shot, etc. will and does cause break through bleeding (aka ovulation).

your best bet would be to see a Gyn and read up on the information in wiki that Judy posted.
