Okay, so this may seem really odd. But I have a question I feel I need to ask.

So, for the last four weeks or so my hubby and I haven't had sex because of all problems I have been having. I have been very bloated, had an arse that seemed to be on fire, stomach cramps, etc. For at least the last two weeks, I haven't been able to go to the loo on my own. I have been having to use enemas. Anyway, so finally last night, we were intimate. And guess what? This morning I passed stool on my own... Last night after doing it, I felt a lot of pressure in my rectum, and was sick throughout the night, waking up in sweat, cramping, etc. I don't think there is a connection between the sweating and cramping because that happens everynight. But the pressure in my rectum was very intense.

Could there be a connection?

Yes, I think there is probably a connection! You probably had increased blood flow to the whole pelvic region, plus hormones released, plus muscle and uterine contractions. At the end of pregnancy, some women stimulate their bowels in order to try to get labour started. They will do things like take castor oil (a laxative) or eat really spicy food. I know plenty of women for whom this has worked. There is a belief that things that stimulate the bowels will also stimulate the uterus, so I don't see why the opposite wouldn't be true!

Thanks! I ended up having 4 almost normal BM yesterday! I am excited about that! First time in about 7 weeks!

Maybe we should be a little active. I feel bad for the hubby, but energy and pain gets in the way with me sometimes.

Thanks for the response to the odd question.

When I was in the middle of a very bad flare, our sex life definitely took a hit as well. There were several times after intercourse that I would get a TERRIBLE bout of diarrhea. I hadn't thought about the extra blood flow to the area causing it...interesting.
