acid build up in stomach...?

Can any one else feel the nasty acid building up in their tummies? It makes me so sick. When it gets really bad, I feel as if I need to burp...but can't. The only relief, and that is short lived, is if I throw up... I have tried little meals, big meals, non greasy meals. Yuck! non of those work. I end up having to take prevacid. I've noticed a correlation with the acid and mad tummy issues. I'm sure the acid is just making my intestines even more mad.
what can be done about the over production of acid? I just want it to stop:frown:

Thanks,
Nat

I can totally relate to this feeling. I almost feel as if I am mostly made up of acid. The acid reflux worsens my CD, asthma, and leaves me with a frequent sour stomach. I don't throw-up because I hate it so much. I'm probably foolish and after taking something for the acid, I fight through it.

Be careful, as the acid can really do some damage. During one of my upper endoscopies, my doctors said that I had black areas that looked like watermelon seeds in my stomach. Biopsies were taken and I was told that they were gastric errosions. Ick!

Yuck, that is exactly how I feel...all acid. I have my asthma pretty well under control, so I haven't noticed the acid messing with me in that area. I'll have to talk to my GI about it. I did mention it when I went in for my initial appt. I forgot to mention the strange little blisters that I occasionally get in my mouth. Not a lot of them... just a few, but worth a mention..right?

I get horrible acid reflux as well. I take tums for short-term relief and am on Prilosec for the long-term (I know you're only supposed to take it for 2 weeks at a time, but whenever I come off of it things get waaayyy worse so my GP put me on it indefinitely). I hate vomiting, it's pretty much my least favorite thing to do, but it is pretty easy to do when the acid is boiling and starts coming up my throat. Not fun, I feel for you!

The blisters you mentioned are definitely worth talking to your doctor about. Crohn's can manifest anywhere from mouth to anus, and the blisters could be a sign that your illness isn't under control or is spreading to your mouth. Good luck, I hope your doctor can get it all under control!

Ah I had that a week ago and it caused bleeding ulcers...not fun. they uped my protonix to twice a day instead of one. I hope you feel better soon.

I also have horrible heartburn/GERD/acid reflex. I have had it for as of this month 2 years!
And gone thorough nearly every antiacid type med. Each have worked for a few months and then stop. i have actually cylced though to the beginning. while none of them have given me long term solutions, they have provided some help each time. you can start with otc. Also eating smaller meals and nothing to sweet, acidy, or fatty. my heartburn safe food is toast with cream cheese.
