From the statistics I have read, approximately 5% of people with Crohn's Disease have or will develop Ankylosing Spondylitis. Are there many of you out there? And do you think it would be useful to have an Ankylosing Spondylitis subforum in this section?

Thanks :)

Would love to see a subforum on AS. My biggest struggle has been with joint pain, particularly lower back pain. Although, I haven't been diagnosed with AS yet, it's being considered so the more I can learn the better.

I have no objection to an AS sub forum but since it is a form of arthtritis should it be included in that forum?

Dusty. :)

Hi,

I have both AS and Chrones. Because they are both inflammatory diseases, I think that there will be some people who have both these diseases in common. I would appreciate some more support in this area. Especially around meds, and peoples experiences.

Thanks so much for this David!!!!

I think it would be a good addition. I do not have AS, but i believe it would be of great help to those that do. Got my vote! =)

since there already is an arthritis subforum, maybe a sticky or part of the wiki about AS. Since there is no real explanation of what it is...
for you list of Extra Intestinal Manifestations/Sticky: Extraintestinal Manifestations Reported in IBD
under Musculoskeletal
you should add:
plantar fasciitis and enthesitis

Why do you think there is no real explanationof AS? It is a real disease with all the trimmings. Plantar Fascitis and enthesitis can both be part of AS.

i meant on this forum.

in life it's arthritis caused by inflammation around the spine and SI joints which rather then damaging by being worn down like in oseto it calcifies and fuses the joints and/or vertebrates.

I would think it couldnt help. I for one hate the frigging joint pain. Plus add the fact that many of the meds we take can cause joint pain/ arthrirtis, it may at least give answers or point people in the right direction.
