Adnexal mass found during a crohn's exam--what to do

Hi all,

I had an MRE done recently to look for crohn's in my small bowel. The report noted that I had a 5cm mass in my adnexa. I immediately scheduled a visit with my OBGYN. She suggested I get it surgically removed ASAP. This came as kind of a shock to me -- I'm only 24 and currently dealing with GI symptoms that are bothering me way more than this mass. I don't think I'm even having symptoms from it (my pain isn't in that area). My doctor said I could wait an monitor it, but if it ruptures in the meantime, I am going to have a bad time. I am also worried about it rupturing because I am on immunosuppressants (6MP) for my crohns and I don't want to get an infection from the fluid in the cyst if it bursts. But on the other hand, I really don't want to have surgery and would rather figure out the cause of my GI symptoms and deal with that first. I don't know what to do and need to make a decision quickly (I am going away for school in a few weeks). Suggestions?

Thanks!

Cut it out, if it bursts while you're an immunosuppressant you're going to have a roaring time with infections. Just because your IBD hurts worse now doesn't mean this thing isn't accruing interest on spreading agony.
