How did you get into remission?

Hi everyone! I haven’t been active here in for a while because I’ve been mostly in remission for the past eight years. I’m curious if anyone else has been in remission long-term and what helped you get there?

For me, it’s been a combination of following a carnivore(ish) diet, managing stress, and occasionally using steroids when needed.

I’d love to hear your experiences and what’s worked for you!

I've been in remission for several years. Currently take Colazal, if I feel things are starting up I usually end up on a steroid to quickly stop it. I would say my disease has always been mild to moderate so I know many have more severe symptoms. I make sure to never miss my meds, colonoscopy every 2 years, high fiber diet, fiber supplement, probiotics daily, good multivitamin, electrolytes daily, eat pretty healthy but no special diet (mostly home cooked food), manage stress, regular exercise, enough sleep. I try to be as healthy as I can. Some foods I can't eat so I feel a good multivitamin is needed. My GI told me try to be as healthy as possible since my body is always fighting the disease. I really try to listen to my body and try to not over exert myself...I can be a workaholic. I wish there was something that worked for everyone. It took me years to get it under control and I always have in the back of my mind that it could become active at any time. Worst I have had recently is GERD acting up and I've had multiple sinus inflections (sinusitis)...not sure if the GERD was involved with that.
