Hi all,

So it's nearly 6 weeks after my ileocaecal resection and my recovery is going well, but over the last week a few things have returned -

1) mucus
2) urgency to go to the toilet. On Saturday I was in a shop about 5 minutes from home felt my stomach gurgle and knew I needed the toilet, my husband had to drive really quick to get me home and I only just made it. Today I have been for lunch with my mum and my stomach did that gurgle again but we were at least 20 minutes from home, we found a supermarket and just made it to a disabled toilet.
3) my psoriasis has come back after over 3 years (I've been on and off steroids for 3 years prior to surgery which has kept this at bay)

Is this all meant to happen again? I've got my follow up appointment on 11th feb with my surgeon and then will be referred back to my Consultant. I'm currently not on any medication, as in recovery.

I'm so upset and the urgency thing is so embarrassing. I really hoped the surgery would sort this :(

Any advice/help would be great, thanks Yvette.

I wish I had advice.I can empathize though.I had a resection in my duodenum,11-13, and share the gurgling guts and immediate urge to have a bowel movement. This happens to me even if I have not had anything that would stimulate my bowels.I am knew to crohn's and wonder if we all share this,no matter where your crohn's is?My guts also gurgle,so loud my wife can hear, but no need to use the toilet. They just make noise every now and then.I hope you feel better Yvette! :poo:

Hi Dave, thanks for your comments. I'm just do worried that it's a possibility things are back already. I've been diagnosed 3 years and was hoping my op would put me in remission for a while! I'll have to see, having my bloods taken Thursday so will see what they come back with.....eek. The gurgling with me is only happening when I urgently need to get to a loo! I did have gurgling like you before my op though, I bet everyone in our open office at work wondered what was rumbling! Lol!

I hope the blood work sheds some light for you.On a lighter note, when my guts do the loud gurgling it's kinda amusing to see peoples reactions, especially in public.Keep the faith! It's amusing if I don't have to make a mad dash, that is!

Thanks Dave, praying it's just after the op symptoms :)

Lol yes it's good to laugh at our symptoms :) my family are used to my poop humour now lol.

The 'potty' humor in some posts has helped me to lighten up.We have our down times and finding humor in life is all the more important.I'm in remission now and I'm trying to stay positive.I am a bit nervous about my first GI visit in mid February.I'm in remission and not on drugs and I remind myself how fortunate I am,that's my mantra for now.Humor is a good medicine.I'll try to remind myself of that during my next 'feel like crap' spell. Good luck again on the blood work! Never give up,never surrender
