I was diagnosed with Crohns about a year and half ago after finding a rectovaginal fistula. This may be TMI, but I am looking for help/advice! At the time it didn't really bother me. I have since had another fistula form (both rectovaginal and perianal). They drain fine for the most part and don't abscess. I do not have a seton and the doctor said as long as they are draining there isn't much to do with them. My concern is they are now starting to "branch" out, which the doctor says is normal. He says the main goal is to get the crohns under control. I am taking azathioprine and Lialda. I feel, for the most part, my crohns is pretty under control. I don't get much abdominal pain and rarely diarrhea. My concern is that the fistula keeps branching and now I have lots of "holes" draining. Bowel movements can be painful with the draining. I guess I just don't know what to do? Should I get a second opinion on closing these up? I am afraid pretty soon it is going to take over my whole nether region!
