Advice on meds for Crohn's

Hi,
Can anyone advise if they have been on Methotrexate, Azathioprine or Mercaptopurine (6-MP) for Crohn's? If yes, did you have any side effects & did it or has the meds actually worked for you?

Hi, Cat!

Many forum members have taken these medications. Personally, I've been on 6-MP and methotrexate. I had few side effects with either, and I had success with MTX. However, this does not guarantee the same for you. As everyone reacts so differently to treatment, you can't base yours off of someone else's experiences.

Are you taking any of these now? Is your doctor planning to start you on one of them?

I have been on 6mp and was frequently sick. It did not help with the disease.

I am now considering methotrexate or AZA.

Hi Cat, I've had all the Crohns drugs, 6MP and Mxt numbed my legs, couldn't walk, Infliximab sent me into anaphylactic shock and Humira made me worse.......so now they're just gonna have to shoot me!!! lol

On aza since 2003 (with a two years pause) no side effects.

Aza has been an important part of the puzzle for staying in remission but definitely can't do it on its own.
