Calling all Humira users, I am seeking your advice.

My Gastroenterologist is going to show me tomorrow how to administer Humira. But what are all the other things that I need to know, apart from taking the pens from the fridge 30 min beforehand, and icing the area to be injected.

In particular, what possible side-effects should I be watching out for when I first start on Humira, and what are the warning signs that perhaps I may be going to have a bad reaction to it? How long do I need to use it before it starts to show some beneficial effects (if indeed it is going to).

Of course any other experience that you have gathered as a Humira user would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance...

Hi,
Most people have a very minor site reaction to humira it makes where he injection site swell slightly and be painful. I had a side effect but nearly a year into having the medication I had vasculitis and swollen ankles from it as soon as I stopped the injections everything cleared up. I'm sure the dr will run through most of these with you but I think it's like any medicine if you have any tightness in the chest etc to go straight to the hospital, I havnt heard of many people having major reactions to humira.
Humira took a couple of months before it started working for me and I had to go up to weekly doses but felt great after that. I hope it all goes well for you and it starts working quickly x
