I decided for the new year to cut out all sugars and limit my carbs. I have gained a ton of weight and need to get control of my eating habits and candy bars. My problem is and I need some advice is that 12 hours after cutting out sugar and carbs I started to have diarrhea at first it was a couple of times a day but now I am going every 30 min. I use to be constipated I dont feel sick other than the horrible feeling I get when I have to go. Do you think it has to do with cuting out carbs and sugars. I dont know why it is geting worse. Oh and I lost 5lbs in the week

May be something else you are eating OR drinking? Keep out the sugars and carbs, but make sure you are well balanced in other nutrients. Perhaps it is something you are eating, or stress adjustment, or body adjustment. Try to knock out any sodas (if you drink any) or other glucose ingredient drinks. That may do it as well. Yes, you will drop weight quickly when you eliminate some of the sugars. Add more fiber to your diet and see if that helps?

This might sound crazy but there's a diet out there called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet which aims to help people suffering from Crohn's along with a few other auto immune diseases. Anyways, it essentially cuts out sugars and most carbohydrates, and it claims that sometimes symptoms seem to get worse before they get better. Try holding out a bit longer before starting to panic, maybe it'll do you more good than just losing weight? :)

I know for me that sugars and carbs keep my output a little more firm and "thicker"... maybe sugar and carbs were keeping you "constipated" and now your body is trying to adjust to it?

There is also the possibility that you are one of those people that are sentsitive to diet changes in general. I know if I introduce a new food, or eat foods I don't normally eat (for example, if I am travelling and have to eat in resaurants - even though I try to order close to what I would have cooked for myself at home, my tummy can protest after a bit that it 'just isn't the same!' lol) I can have "issues"....

Either way, I hope it clears up for you soon :)
