So, I was diagnosed with Crohn's just earlier this week (although I was unofficially in the know as the surgeon who did my X-ray said a small part of my lower intestine was inflamed and narrowed, which gave me time to prepare and look into this).

All of this started about July last year, I had a operation to remove my appendix, and if I remember correctly, the doctors said that the recovery period is about 6 weeks long. After the 6 weeks had passed, I still suffered from stomach pains, and even though my weight had been consistent since the surgery, my strength and energy continued to deteriorate.

So went to the doctor I did. Told him how I lack energy, and how I get stomach pains whenever I did any kind of activities (walking, driving, doing work on the computer, hell even eating). So had some blood test taken I did, quite a few actually :( . During those next few months, doctors said it was just my body and the recovery period from the operation.

Finally in late November/ early December, the doctors in the hospital said that they suspected that I had some intolerance/absorption problems with wheat/flour because I had a long term rash on my chest (which developed just before my appendicitis, and has only just gone about a month ago after gradual fading), and because of my b12 and Folic acid levels in my blood where very low, but before they'd confirm it they'd do more tests. So I had more tests done, and in late December, my doctor said that he suspected that I had crohn's diseases, but that he would proper confirm it after yet again more tests.....So Jump forward towards earlier this week (February) and that's where's we at.

So that's it really. I do have one question though to you forum members who had a appendicitus, did anyone of ye develop crohn's during or after it?

I had my appendix removed only to find out that it wasn't infected or inflammed. That was 2001. My new doctor in November 2007 told me that it may have been an early symptom of crohn's. I wish my doctors would have left it in back then and done a little more investigating first. Oh well!

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis but at least you have an answer and wonderful support here.

Just about every time I have to go to the ER for a bad flare up the ER doctors want to rush me in to have my appendix removed. Every time I have to tell them it's not, and they argue with me, but after more investigation they see that I am right.
