Soo I don't like alcohol, I've never had a complete drink I don't think. I had a sip on Halloween and tonight I had maybe 5 sips(the neck of a beer bottle)...I'm on pentasa 2x/day, entocort in the morning and 6MP at night. A) I'm worried about pancreatitis now and B) we're going to Vegas and being a sheltered 25 yr old....I kinda wanna go crazy, but not too crazy lol.

How many of you drink a lot? Thoughts? Will I get pancreatitis with even 1 beer? It was the neck of it, maybe a little more but of course in my head I feel like I drank the whole bottle lol! :(

Is 6MP equivalent to alcohol??

Just wondering if the potential liver damage caused by 6mp is equivalent to non-Crohns alcohol users who drink (a lot of it?)

No, you will NOT get pancreatitis after having a few sips of alcohol! The liver is very good at processing alcohol, in fact it processes about 80% of what is consumed....

From personal experience, and I would NOT recommend this....I have not had any issues with alcohol consumption (socially, yes, I have over-indulged in the past too!)....and been on MANY different types of medications over the years.

If you don't like alcohol to begin with, my recommendation is to just not drink - there are ways to foll people into thinking you are taking part - drink something like coke, sprite (soda)...no one can tell what you have - there are also many types of virgni drinks that look like they are alcoholic ones....don't be pressured into drinking 'just because'.....in fact, some of my better times back in my youth were when I was the sober one and watched friends get drunk...

As an out, if you have a vehicle, offer to the be DD!

I'm on several meds that are a no no with alcohol and I sipped some a few weeks ago. It's ok, honestly it just alters your bodies way of handling the drug but a few sips shouldn't do much damage.
