So, I am currently taking 150mg of Immuran and I'm down to 5mg of Pred. I'm not a big drinker, and now I avoid it all together, because I was under the impression that Immuran is hard on the liver. So I figured that my liver doesn't need any more stress than what it already has. Am I correct in this logic? Would having a couple drinks every now and then interact with the meds, or make it more likely for me to have problems with the Immuran? Thanks for any info!

I doubt if you had an occasional drink you would have any problems. As long as your blood work comes back showing your liver isn't having any issues with the Immuran, you should be okay. I never risked it though. I figured I was already behind the eight ball....

Katie is correct, any kind of med can affect the liver and you never know how your system can handle it. Best not to drink.

I drank pretty heavily for a long time on 6-MP and Asacol even though the bottle said not too. Recently had a big check up and liver tests done and everything looked great.

That being said, everything in moderation and be careful.

Trust your bloodwork IMHO. If you convince yourself that alcohol is "bad" then the stress will probably do you more harm than the actual booze! The liver is a pretty amazing organ, and I'm sure a couple of drinks here and there won't do it any harm.

Everything in moderation is probably the best plan.
