Hi!
I just joined this website and am really happy to talk with other people who have the thrill of Crohn's disease. I have never met another person with Crohn's, and I was diagnosed 18 years ago.
I have had 8 surgeries from Crohn's. One was a rupture in my intestines, which lead to a 3 month hospital stay. I have had 2 feet of intestine removed. I've had many fistula surgeries.
I tried Pentasa 8 years ago, and it made me so sick I stopped taking it. I've had 2 rounds of Remicade infusions, 1 &1/2 years apart. After the second round of Remicade, I developed little blisters on my hands, feet, legs, and scalp--I llost all of my hair for about 6 months. I have read up on this, they call it Pustular Scoriosis. IT comes back with Crohn's flare-ups.
I just went through a delightful Colonoscopy, and they found 4 pre-cancerous neoplastic tubular adenomas. I found out about this a week ago, and....what do I do? The doctor's attitude, 'Well, I removed them". I had thyroid cancer years ago and really get aggressive when I hear the word cancer.
I am working on my second Master's Degree, and my husband and I have a small farm. I think about my Crohn's except when it jumps up and kicks me in the teeth (or butt). We have one bathroom. Bears aren't the only thing that poop in the woods.

you are not alone with crohns. And I think that it is a real hoot that you share your bathroom with the bears, how many people would do that. This disease is a very mean one and yes we try to ignore it b/c what else can we do. I find common threads with everyone on here the stories are different but all sound somewhat similiar. Glad that you are hear! I am new hear too!

Pentasa Sick

Hi!
I just went on Pentasa again. I tried it about 5 years ago, and was so sick I ended up in the emergencey room. I started it again Friday, and am really sick to my stomach. I have to hang in there! Does anybody have any words of wisdom on what to eat at this time? Plus, continuing monster headache! Can I take any king of asprin? Ahhh, this too shall pass!!!

Hello Sandylou ~
Sorry to hear you have had so many surgeries and complications from your crohns. :( I felt very alone for many years and was afraid to share any of my grief because I thought I was truley one in a million who must have this ugly disease. I thought, who talks about poo anyway? Pretty much everyone here. You have come to a great place to visit with other going through tough times too. I hope you find some relief from your lonely times here :D Keep us posted on whats next what meds or surgeries etc.. I had not heard of such an aweful reaction to Remicade before either and one that continues long after the infusion! WoW that is really a bummer.. Keep your head up!
