So for the last 2 weeks in particular I've been getting more anal itching than normal. I think things were fairly under control pre-Christmas and with diet going out of wack I may have lost some control. I also have an intolerance to brewers and bakers yeast plus, but tried some Kefir for a whole month. Could it be that the yeast in the kefir even though it was different initiated the itching?

I don't have loose stools but where at the start of my butt crack it feels like there is a tiny bump in there and it feels somewhat sore. I have bought some SCD yoghurt to see if I can get things back under control.

Does anything here sound familiar? What could that bump be? Has anyone got stopped the itching purely through diet?

Thanks for any insights

Hello,
The bump could be a skin tag which can be itchy. I had one and it definitely was.
I wouldn't have thought they could be controlled by diet.
I'm not sure what happened to mine. I had fistula surgery in Jan so they could have tidied it up then. I haven't had as much itching since and any I have had I have put down to my wound healing up/being wet.

I have several skin tags and they can be itchy or irritated, especially if I walk long distances. Don't k ow why walking bothers them, but it does. I find that a sitz bath helps and keeping the area clean in general.

Yup - excess moisture for me can def. induce itching...keeping things clean and dry is a huge help!.....I haven't really found anything to help witht he itching except diaper cream - something like Desitin as it is thicker and doesn't ger 'squishy' like other things can.....

Thanks for the tips. I'd say it's been itchy for about a week now. For some reason this is especially true when I get out of bed. It's odd to me as to why this would be. I would have thought it would be less inflammed when I get up. Any thoughts why this could be? Could it be the calmoseptine cream can irritate in some situations (Alliruns) I'm thinking this is what you experienced?

I have something called proctofoam that works well on it. Like others, exercise (probably the combination of sweat and body heat) seems to aggravate it.

You can try a hydrocortisone cream at the drug store which should be next to the hemorrhoid supplies. It is an anti-itch ointment.

My ass has been itchy as hell lately too. No bumps or blood or anything but, and I swarmed myself, so annoying

Hi seattlesounders,
Could it be an hemmorhoid. hemmorhoids itch. Mine do when I m flaring with them.
A little Kamillosan might help. It contains soothing and anti-inflammatory chamomile. Just check the ingredients first to be sure you are not allergic to any of them knowingly....e.g. lanolin I think it contains. Witchhazel extract or red raspberry leaf tea might also help with them being astringent.

My colorectal gave me a cream called calmoseptine. It helps with burning, irritation, itching, and wound healing, especially from fistulas. I'm not sure if it is over the counter or not, but it is very helpful.

Calmoseptine is OTC in the U.S. but in my experience hard to find unless you order online. I found it at a tiny local pharmacy but the big ones like CVS don't have it.

Viaderm KC cream works very well at controling the itch. It burns initially, but perserver at it clears it up well.

Most pharmacies carry Calmoseptine BUT they keep it behind the counter. Just ask a pharmacy tech or pharmacist for it. It is non-Rx but for some reason it is kept 'behind the counter.'
