Well Jordan has had another fit this morning god as if he hasn't got enough with his crohns so trip to gp this morning and he is sending for a brain scan one good thing is we took private medical insurance out for Jordan in June when he got dx with crohns it won't cover Jordan for for any treatment for his crohns but his gp said it will cover him for his fits and thetests he has to have done so fingers crossed he will get straight in and hopefully get Jordan On the right meds to help him sorry for this long post

I'm so sorry to hear about Jordan!!! :( I really hope you get him in for all the tests asap; it's certainly something you want an answer for! I can imagine how worried you are but it may still come to nothing... a close friend of my son's had recurring seizures over a few months (they would have been around 12-13 years old at the time), they ran tons of tests and nothing serious was ever found, the seizures stopped about 4 years ago. If 'anything' was found at the time, it was 'minor' and was something that passed (with age???). This boy is, coincidentally, a goalie and they have played together, off and on, since they were 8 and are still close friends, so I know that he is fine and well and that whatever caused the seizures has passed!

Let us know how Jordan is doing... :ghug:

Thanks Tess I will let you no how he goes hopefully we won't have to wait long with having the private medical insurance he had the fit this morning and he has go e traning tonight and has two hard games at the weekend so I hope and pray he will be ok and thanks for letting me no about Stephens friend and he is a goalie thanks Tess for replying Linda x

Hey Linda,

I'm so sorry to hear that Jordan has had another seizure. :( What a scary time it is for you all...

I hope you can get a brain scan organised soon and Jordan can once again get on top of things. :)

Just tossing ideas around here. If nothing shows up on the scan maybe you could discuss with your doctor if the seizures are an extra intestinal manifestation of his crohns, seizures are documented as one of the central nervous system manifestations of CD. I'm sorry, I don't recall if Jordan is still having CD symptoms or not, if he is then it may be something to throw into the mix.

Good luck hun! I'm sure the docs will be able to sort something for Jordan to keep things on an even keel. Keep us posted!

Thinking of you both,

Thanks Dusty he isn't having any symptoms of crohns but I will mention it to the consultant when his appointment comes through it is so frightening seeing Jordan like thT but he just come round as if nothing had happend he was a little tired this afternoon but he has still gone training tonight he just won't give up bless him Linda xxx

I hope you get answers from the neuro and I hope it's something easily treatable. Have any possibilities been suggested? Epilepsy? Good luck Linda!!

Good luck. Will he have an overnight EEG? Danny has epilpsy - dx at 7 years old. He was on Depakote for over 4 years but had to stop it when this current illness started due to elevated ammonia levels. He is still seizure free ... but always something to think about. Only the overnight EEG's showed abnormalities for Danny.

Thanks Mark and jeanne his gp seems to think it is epiLepsy he was talking about a it been a something juvinille tonic something he says it is when they are tired and their sleep pattern changes and he said most of the time the seizures happen firs thing on a morning normally when they are waking up and that's what has happend with Jordan Linda xxx

I hope you get some definitive answers soon and get started on treatment or meds! (I believe tonic and clonic refer to types of seizures.)

Thinking of you :ghug:

Thanks for the update Linda.

I hope the GP is on the right track and you have solid answers soon hun.

You may have picked up the word tonic when the GP was speaking to you about the siezures. A tonic phase is a stage that people go through when experiencing certain types of seizures.

Thanks Dusty and Tess I new I heard the doctor mention tonic but then I was thinking have I just picked this up from some where else my head is really in the shed at the min he also said the meds Jordan will probably be taking is epelim but the side effects of them are very similar to the azathiopren with the liver god I wish I could take all this for Jordan every thing seems to be happening xxx Linda

I know, I'm sure we've all wished we could just take all these problems from our children. It just isn't fair at all!! :( You want the best for your children, you do everything in your power to give them all that you can and then this comes along and we have so little control over it, it makes me so frustrated and angry :ymad: (not to mention constantly worried!). At least, that's how I feel!

How is Jordan dealing with all this? I often think they handle all of this better than we do... Not sure if it's their age or if it's because they have a better sense of how their own bodies are feeling (or both) but, at least Stephen, worries less and only deals with each issue when it arises, doesn't agonize over every possibility out there! Wish I could do the same!

Hoping all is resolved quickly with the tests! :ghug:

Jordan us dealing with it ok Tess he said as long as he doesn't have to stop playing his ice hockey but his gp was ok about him still playing he just said not to swim ride a bike and a few other things until we get the tests done and thanks muppet for your well wishes I think our children are tougher than we think Linda xxx

Just a little update on Jordan and sorry it has taken so long Jordan had his EEG and MRI about 4 weeks ago but it took a week for his results to come back then his consultant was on holiday for 2 weeks so eventually jordans consultant has rang today to give us a verbal result as Jordan has been away with his ice hockey his MRI has come back all clear thank god his consultant seems to think it has been related to his crohns and he said because his body has been through a lot over the last 5 months with 2 chest infections he said it just a way that his body is responding to all this stress it has been going through we are going to see the consultant next Saturday so he can go through all jordans test results with us but it sounds good and Jordan has been good over the last month sorry for the long post and I hope everyone is as well as they can be also jorda has had his flu injection yesterday and is feeling Linda xxx

Hey Linda,

Thanks for the update! Fab news, I am so happy for you both. :):):)

I hope all continues to go well hun and things continue to settle for Jordan. Good luck with the appointment and let us know how you get on...:goodluck:

Dusty.

Hi Linda,

Great news!! Hope he continues to feel well!!! (And that his hockey season is going well too! :) )

Thanks Tess they are sitting third in their league at the min but we have some hard games coming up over the next couple of months hope Stephen is well and he is enjoying season Linda xxx

:applause:I'm glad your son is doing better and no new bad news for him. I know stress can definitely cause seizures in children. One of my friends' little girl started having seizures when her twin brother passed away at twelve from cancer; it was from stress, it lasted about a year. She is 16 now and has a clean bill of health.

Best wishes and healthier days ahead for your family! :)

Thanks mountaingem that's so sad losing her brother at that age jordans consultant said what he has been through in just a short time had put a lot of strain on his body phisically and mentally so hopefully it is what you said Linda xxx
