Another flare question

Hi,
Another newbie to the forum !

Had a flareup from my Crohns last sunday ( a week ago ) and since then been experiencing skin problems - something looking a lot like "zits" keep popping up in my face/neck but the really big painful ones is on my back. Ofcourse my BM has increased as well during this flare up. I have had these before back in September but this was togehter with a BIG flareup which hospitalized me.

Anybody recognizes these "zits"???

By the way I'm currently on Humira, taking 40mg every 2 weeks. Prednisone is down to 10mg.

Unfortunately i don't have a diagnosis, however since i've been feeling rotten i have noticed really bad acne....I did have some acne before, but not nearly as bad as now. I've started using Vichy's acne line, Norma Derm, which works fairly well.

Welcome Uli! I have a rash similar to this on my chest and upper back primarily. My derm thinks that it is directly related to the Remicade that I am on. I have struggled with it for 6 months now and have not been able to clear it. It is sort of like acne - but not the same - and very itchy. I did start a Pred taper a few weeks ago however - and the entire thing is going away. Not sure what to think about that.....but I figured it would get worse on the pred as I usually break out with pred. Hope you can get it cleared up!

Peaches, yeah dunno if its the Crohn's itself or its the pred. When I had the flare-up which hospitalized me I had them too and they came approx. 2 weeks after finishing pred - so its a pussle. Did hear that the disease could in rare cases produce these evil hurting things :confused2:

I rashy itchy pimple things on my armpits right now. I am on Remicade.
Turned out to be an infection, which I am getting a lot of lately, so go see your doc to be sure. Might just need to use some antibiotic cream on it.

Mini - what cream do they have you on? They put me on clindamycin and I am realizing after being on pred for 2 weeks that the clindamycin wasn't really touching it. Is this the MERSA infection on your armpit? I would go crazy if I had itchy mess in my armpits (and couldn't shave!!).

Hi,

Of course I can't diagnose you from a distance...but you might want to google image erythema nodossum (I think that is spelled right). It is one of the many skin problems that can develop due to Crohn's inflammation.

Either way, you might want to talk to your doc about it, there might be a treatment.

Hi Erin,
I'm pretty sure its not erythema nodossom after googling it and its not itchy, just sore/hurting when putting at finger on it/them. That its due to Crohn's or the med's only time will tell. They normally start to dissappear after 2-3 days but if they were large they'd also leave a scar :-(
