DD (15yo) has had three kidney stones in the last 6 months (2 of them in November). The last one she had we decided on the surgery and we're glad we did because it was BIG and impacted. All her stones are calcium oxalate so her urologist repeated a 24 hour urine test. He just called back to say she has enteric hyperoxaluria which basically means because of her Crohn's/resection she can't get rid of oxalate properly so it forms stones. He wants her to start Calcium Citrate 509mg two times a day and repeat her urine in 3 months. I'm hopeful that with the supplement and extra hydration she can prevent more stones.
In other news, she's been having lots of green stools lately. I know that means it's traveling quickly/bile production but she said it's been green for about a week. Her labs from last weeks infusion were great (Thank God) and she has no pain, no fever and no other symptoms of anything. I sent a message online to her GI several days ago but haven't heard back yet. Is this something to wait and see?
