This study is old, but I hadn't heard about it. In EU countries, they banned it in 2006.

I found a newer study that shows uptake from wastewater treatment plant effluent used on farms. I didn't know it was legal to use that on food crops. Maybe because of the California drought? I don't think I'm going to buy any American veggies anymore.

yeah, this is so disgusting. The animal farming industry uses a much larger amount of antibiotics on animals than the medical system do for humans. I just cant believe this continues to be legal and considered a moral thing to do. Feeding healthy animals with preventive antibiotics just so farmers can do massive farming is disgusting and cruelty in my opinion, should be illegal. We legally protect dogs and ban puppy mills, but society accepts far worst with massive pork, chicken and cows industry in my opinion. I have watched too many documentaries to close my eyes and remain insensitive to save a few dollars... Not to mention that the massive antibiotic use rejected in the waters and lands could have an impact of us humans... This issue is really discouraging...:frown:, sorry that was my saturday night evening rant, just sick of being sick!
