Hi, my son of 11yrs has just been diagnosed with Crohns, we're living in Singapore. He fell il 2yrs ago with ebv and cervical lymph node swelling. He went through the worksas they suspected lymphoma. The swelling took 1yr to go down. Swelling caused pain and muscle spasms which continue. Pain would keep him awake at night. Last month he became worse, eating much less, going toulet once a week, down from alternate days, nauseas and n appetite. Then the bleeds started, quite a lot, which got him to see a gastroenterologist. He had no tummy pain and soft stools, avrge bm every 5days. He had scopes under ga ad found some swelling and ulcers. The small intestine was too swollen/ blocked so they tried barium meal yesterday. He puked it out. They did ultrasound instead. It showed thickening of he wll ad other issues. They started him on milk powder yrstetday. Thing is, none of thisb bothers him. His only big problem is *severe occipitalmuscle spasms. H has anarax for tat but it doesn't touch he pain. This last 10days he wi be awake 1whole day , not sleep 1whole ,then awake whole next day, finally sleeping upright position on the sofa. The neck pain is diving him crazy. Not been to school in a month. No steroids cos they say there's a chance it cn be lymphoma in e small intestine. Anyone's kid had this type of pain? we're at a loss. Tia, El

:( ebv is nasty it screws everything up. Especially because the lymph system is a part of the immune system...
I havent been thro that exactly but I would try heat and ice packs for discomfort. When I had ebv I lived drinking hot lemon and honey, hot drinks soothe n im sure theres some beneficial health properties there too...

I hope your son gets some answers and treatment started soon!

Sorry to hear about your son. My son was about the same age when diagnosed. I hope they start treatment soon so he can feel better soon. I don't have any great advice about pain relief - my kids have never found pain killers that work. Heat packs are about the best for sore areas. My son spent alot of time with a hot water bottle clutched to his tummy.

Welcome to the forum! I'm so sorry your son is in so much pain. My son gets a lot of aches and pains in his joints and bones, but nothing compared to what your son is going through. I hope you get some answers soon and can start a good treatment plan. Take care!
