So I fed up wiping my toosh. I want to give solid food a miss for a few days to see if it calms things down. Ive tried low residue but its no good.
My doc gave me 30 ensure to make sure I was getting nutrition.
Besides broths what else is there.
Thanks in advance
Ju

I've used the slim fast type shakes in the past. They're a meal replacement so they do have some nutritional value and they don't taste too bad. I'm in the same boat I've been to the bathroom 3 times this morning and I've only been awake for just over an hour 😩

:dusty::dusty:hi I use module powder just add flavour ie nesquick and its a really tasty milk shake and they have all the good things your body needs

I use Complan! I usually make them with milk, but on especially bad days, I use just water. The strawberry one is very tasty! Very similar to what Evie suggested with the slimfast shakes. You can get Complan from supermarkets and pharmacies!

Thanks for replies. Today was my 1st day without solids. Its hard isn't it? I had lots of water, an ensure, a hot chocolate and some broth. Still liquid doesn't stay in the stomach very long so I feel starved.

I use the ensure and broths. I add rice to the broth, cooked a little longer to its softer. It's not a pure liquid diet but works for me.

Ensure is full of ingredients that can cause problems: soy, whey, massive sugar, and carrageenan.

Might try goat milk. Supposed to have all the nutrients to sustain life and very easy to digest and absorb along with healing properties for the intestine. Combine that with multi-vitamin and broth should help.

Is it the same for goats cheese. Might give it a go.
Shamrock, do u mean like full fat milk. Ive no problem with dairy.
Ian, yes my doc suggested rice.

Complan Chicken Soup. Yum.

Goat cheese will probably leave more residue than milk, but goat products are supposed to be much better than cow dairy for crohns.

I often make potatoe soup when i want to avoid solid food...just peel them, boil them soft in some bouillon, and put them in the food processor with as much of the broth u like...that along with some ensure during the day usually keeps me full...plus warm potatoe soup is like a hug for your tummy [emoji5]

Thats sound delish a ja. I ate potatoes everyday on their own for dinner. I'm couldn't stay on liquids too Long as I was too hungry. I'm eating a very low residue diet at the mo. Rice rice cakes, potatoes, turkey and rice krispies. Bland white food. Bleugh. But my bowel is settling down so its working.

Oh thats good to hear its working for you...my diet was very restricted for a few months after i got out from the hospital too (like u basically rice, toast, macaroni and eggs...and lots of corn flakes lol)
Made me feel super sluggish though so started being less careful with what i ate (nothing raw or anything u know but the occasional vegetable n fruit). Anyhow got problems on and off and i really wish i could just drink ensure for every meal to avoid the whole hassle of thinking about food all the time...😌
