My son was put on Femara, also called Letrozole, by his Pediatric Endocrinologist to suppress estrogen to keep his growth plates open since he appears to be in rapid tempo puberty.

Anyone have any experience with this drug, and especially in combination with Remicade?

Sorry. Even though we have plenty of precoscious puberty experience here we opted not to medicate so no experience with that drug. I would run it by the GI and Endo. Our Endo seemed to know a lot about Remicade but we only discussed it as it related to my older daughter who wasn't her patient. My precoscious puberty daughter didn't have Crohn's at the time.

My son was put on Arimidex, also an aromatase inhibitor like Femara, to keep his growth plates open. He is also on Remicade.

He only took the Arimidex for about 2weeks before he started with major depression so we stopped it. We so wanted it to work for him but it just wasn't worth the side effects for us. Definitely something to watch for and discuss with the endocrinologist if you notice anything with your son.

Thanks...so hard to find any info on this drug and its off label use, especially combined with Remicade. We are with an endocrinologist at a large children's hospital who has experience in using this drug. DS has been on it for 1 week so far and has experienced a little dizziness.

Praying it works and, more importantly, doesn't interfere with his Remicade and remission!
